Once Matthew had determined that the two Japanese individuals on his apartment floor were okay, Matthew quickly headed for the exit of the building. It really didn't take him very long, and as he passed through the first floor he pulled his coat up to his face, at the same time as he shoved Kumajirou into his jacket; both of them doing their best to avoid inhaling the smoke.

It didn't work too well, and by the time they got to the exit both Matthew and the polar bear were hacking and coughing harshly. Furthermore, Matthew's white parka had become much greyer from the soot covering it.

"I hate that place. Too warm." Kumajirou said, looking up at Matthew's face as Matthew pulled him out from his jacket.

"W-Well...we both made it, eh?" Matthew muttered in response between his coughs, putting Kumajirou down so he could wipe his ashened glasses clear. Once they were relatively clean, he put them back on and looked around him. One of the first things the Canadian noticed was a middle aged man dressed in a high-end suit. Well...that was unnecessarily fancy considering the slum-like location they were now in.

"Hello!" The Canadian yelled towards him, making certain that he made his voice as loud as possible. Even though he had shouted, the man would probably hear his voice at a regular, even muffled tone. Such was the curse of being a somewhat invisible nation. "Are you okay, sir?!"

Movement above and close by had Charles' attention divided. As something blew up near by, the man fired off a single shot to the area where the grenade had come from. He was in no mood to waste any ammunition on cowardly opponents that hid on rooftops.

A voice, no, two voices, off to the side caught the CFO's attention and he turned his head enough to keep watch on the rooftop activity and see who was coming closer. Was that... It was a polar bear. Charles was instantly reminded of Toki and his need to collect animals, namely endangered ones, as pets. That 'no you can't have a panda as a pet' talk had been a mess.

"I'm fine. Keep your voice, ah, down. No need to attract too much attention." Hazel eyes scanned the other quickly to assess him. Blond, glasses, silly jacket, backpack that could be holding anything and that polar bear. Threat level was low. "Could you, ah--"

The unexpected gunfire from above had Charles turning his body to the side and shoving the new comer to the ground before crouching along side of him. He fired off a few more rounds at the rooftop in hopes of quelling the assault, even if he was unable to see anything at this point.

"Did anything hit you? Head, body or otherwise?"

'Don't worry, I generally don't attract that much attention in the first place.' Matthew internally responded, a element of bitterness to his thought. However, his outward expression remained relatively blank, and the Canadian nodded towards Charles nervously. "R-Right, I'll-aye!"

As the bullets hit the ground surrounding them, Kumajirou's fur went on end, and the polar bear scrambled closer to Matthew as the Canadian stumbled backwards in surprise. "F-Fuck!"

Matthew hissed after he had been shoved over, his packsack softening his fall, but also being abit awkward on his back. He rolled over to his side, and brought his hand up to his bleeding cheek; he was really lucky, a bullet had just grazed it. "N-Nope, I'm good! Those assholes..." He snarled as he dug into his pocket, withdrawing his own handgun. "Why are they doing this..."
