Poor Pania (A Compaq Presario CQsomething laptop).
Her fan has been sounding horribly noisy lately, so much so that we had to turn the TV up to drown it out (I may be exaggerating, but only slightly). So eggwhite got some compressed air and carefully blew out the dust on the fan. Turns out this was a mistake. The fan was probably being held together by the dust and whatnot. We did try taking her apart to fix the fan, but gave up at the point where we needed to take the screen off to get the case open. As is traditional, there was one tiny small screw left over.
She will turn on, but lacking a fan means that she overheats quite quickly. Hopefully it will not cost too much to replace the fan, but if so, it looks like I will be getting a new laptop somewhat earlier than I expected. In the meantime, I am using a spare, unnamed laptop.
Today is my Friday. My next work day is Thursday. We're off to Eastercon in Bradford for the actual holiday (and me meeting eggwhite's brother and brother's family), but I have a bit of a break which will be nice as well.
