... Don't you just love how consistent I've been with posting this? I'm leaving on a trip for a week on Thursday morning and I've just been too distracted, sorry about that. Here's another chapter, though!
Fandom: Buffyverse
Pairing: Faith/Cordelia
Rating: NC-13
Summary: TV drops a bombshell on Cordelia and Intel finally locates Faith for Buffy. What they discover leads to a whole lot of heart ache, and in the case of some, a little acceptance.
A/N: For this story I use little bits of Russian and Swedish, which I have taken from online resources or my own limited knowledge of the language. If you find mistakes, please do point them out.

Cordelia dialled the all-too-familiar number at the all-too-familiar time and Katerina was expecting her. “Cordelia, how lovely to hear from you again,” she greeted.
“Hi Katerina, how’s Faith this afternoon?”
“She’s sitting in front of her bay windows, smiling to herself. I honestly think she’s having a pleasant memory of the gardens for once.”
“Well, that certainly beats her unemotional state.”
“Oh quite! I’m pleased to see her like this.”
Cordelia picked up on the hesitation instantly. “But?”
“But her being this aware during the day might mean we need to increase the dose of the sedatives this evening. Usually when she’s more reactive during the day, the nights follow suit.”
The brunette’s heart clenched, Katerina spoke of it so easily, like it was painful but unavoidable. “I can’t say I agree with your treatment, Katerina, but we’ve discussed this before and I won’t argue.”
Katerina sighed. “I know, Cordelia, I don’t like it either, but you haven’t seen the damage she can inflict on herself in those nights.” She shuddered in memory of Faith's last episode. “I… I can’t let her do that to herself.”
“I know, Katerina, I understand, I do. I just… I really wish there was something we could do.”

The conversations with Katerina never got any easier. The women had built a certain friendship-like bond as they both cared about Faith and wanted to see her well again. But Cordelia still disagreed with the state the other woman kept the Slayer in. How would Faith ever be able to grieve if she wasn’t even aware of her own self?
Feeling an intense need for a hot shower, Cordelia stripped on her way to the bathroom. Angel had three different visions to work on and she had supplied two of them today. Add Faith to that mix… Cordelia felt tired and worn and groaned with sheer delight as the hot rays hit her back. No one could ever convince her to settle for an apartment with a bad shower ever again.
The brunette focussed her thoughts on Faith and the ordeal the woman was still facing when the Dark Slayer became aware of her surroundings again. It was so strange to think of Faith as a widow and a mother who had lost her child. The young woman who bolted from LA five years ago was nothing like that. As a matter of fact, she remembered quite clearly that Faith ran out on her before she’d even uttered the word ‘relationship’. Not that she had intended to. Not really. That night had been amazing and wonderful and eye-opening in many ways, but she hadn’t been thinking beyond that kiss and the memorable hours that followed it. Another groan tore itself from Cordelia’s throat, though this time the hot water didn’t have much to do with it.
