Knitter's almanac KAL

Well, I think it's just me doing the KAL in my knitting group at this point. But since we're roughly mid-way through the year more or less, I thought I'd post about what I have to show for my time. Short answer: not that much

Long answer:
Starting with the red thing on the bottom (I swear it is burgundy, and not really magenta) we have an aran tube-top that might one day be a cardigan. Going clockwise, next we have a February Lady sweater that I DIDN'T SWATCH FOR and it turned out too small so it's in the process of being frogged. In March I totally went off the rails and knit this Rose Lace Stole instead of the chainmaille sweater -- I did actually finish this (after a few months) and am very pleased with it.

I spent most of April working on the stole, but on the 30th decided to use the yarn that wouldn't be used for the FLS after all to make a Ten stitch square blanket. This pattern makes really good hospital knitting, incidentally.
Next, for May, I actually finally finished a damn project within a month and made some lovely mitered purple mittens that I will appreciate a lot when winter comes. And finally, being laid up for 2 weeks really gets you caught up on your knitting -- I have already finished 3 hats this month (1 Maltese Fisherman's hat, which takes about an afternoon to knit as the yarn is so bulky and 2 Ganomy hats, although I experimented with decreases so they wouldn't be quite so gnomey looking). Hey, MissHawklet, recognize the yarn?

So now you know.

Also, a bunch of baby praying mantises hatched in the abandoned window box on my porch. They marched away and I have no idea where they are now.

The chickens are doing good. For the first few days we had them, we had to chase them into the coop at night, but now they have figured it out and go on in by themselves when it gets dark. They share a hobby with Patchy -- they like to dig little holes and sit in them when it gets really hot. They're getting bigger every day and we'll need to make them nesting boxes, pretty soon.
