theatrical_muse #205: Talk about a moment in which you wished you had a camera

He says he has a near photographic memory, which is true...only part of the time. His memory's good, but nobody's perfect, and 900+ years is a damned long time.

If he can't find a picture of one of his companions in a newspaper or a yearbook or personal photograph, he'll take a picture himself and make an excuse for it, somehow make them think it was all their idea and that he was the one being the grump about it.

He doesn't do domestic, and sappy's not his style. So he says.

It feels so Human, but he has a photo album tucked away somewhere that he usually only takes out when he has a new picture to add. Rose and Jack aren't hard to find; they both thought up taking as many photos as they could was a great idea all on their own, which got annoying, but Jack was ever the camerawhore, and Rose was always obliging and promising that she wouldn't let any photos slip to some conspiracy alien sites or the like, and he knows he ought to be more worried about that sort of thing, especially since Mickey-boy only just erased most of his presence off the internet and general media, but he doesn't think it matters all that much. Rose wouldn't let any secrets slip that the public wasn't already ready for.

It's not the photographs of his friends he needs; he has plenty. Tegan and Nyssa actually got along enough to stay still for one snap, Adric slipping in there between them. Susan's time as a Human schoolgirl garnered a yearbook photo near the very front. Grace's photo came from a few years in her future when an article featured her thanks to her steady climb in rank at the hospital.

What he really wants pictures of are all the little moments in-between. Things that might fall through the cracks of even his mind, shared jokes and old-fashioned soda jerks, movies and spilled popcorn on the couch, faces full of wonder on their first and his hundred millionth planet. But all of those little things will have to remain memories, and he tucks the album away again. It's always time for him to move on.
