Wow, I don't think I've posted here in a while. But I thought I'd just write some thoughts I have regarding the Heyx3 Face Down performance.
I was so busy the day it aired, that I heard everything about Nino's injury being apparent, and how much he was hurting during the performance, before I had a chance to check it out myself. But after hearing so much about how he was in pain, and how it was difficult for friends of mine to watch it, I made the decision that I would not be watching it myself, despite having 6 copies of varying qualities already on my hard drive.
Even when I posted the iTouch versions, I hesitated on including the Heyx3 performance, because based on what I heard, it didn't seem to be something that a fan (Arashi fans and Nino-biased ones) would want to re-watch over and over and over again. But for the sake of inclusivity, I did add it.
And then last night, 5 days after the performance, after deleting my TS file, and lower quality mp4s, I grit my teeth and decided to see it for myself. Because if it was Nino's decision to perform, as a fan I am proud of him, and should applaud his efforts.
And my thoughts after holding my breath and peering through my fingers?
I don't know if it was because I was so mentally prepared by friends, but it was not as horrible as I'd thought it'd be!
Quite honestly, I think it was okay!
Was it rough to see Nino dragging his right feet, and clumsily attempt the floor move :/ and hold his thigh in the back?
Yes.
But as someone who has also hurt her lower limbs in varying degrees, and most recently as of 3 months ago, stress fractured her right foot, causing me to limp about and drag myself around in similar fashion to how Nino was during the performance, I don't think he was in excruciating pain, as some people made it out to be.
Nino pulled a muscle in his right thigh, I think, so I can't speak directly regarding that injury. But when I stress fractured my right foot, the way I was forced to drag my right leg around, LOOKED a lot more pitiful to the observer. I also had to hop up and down stairs on my left leg (referring here to the news that Nino needed Jun and Ohno's assistance in going up and down the stairs after and during the performance).
I also took a good look at Nino's face while I watched the performance, and he looked completely fine (pain-free).
So the whole point of this post, if there is one, is that in my personal opinion, I think Nino was okay during the Heyx3 performance. Seeing how he was so much recovered already by the time of the Music Station performance just bolsters my opinion on this, because just for comparison purposes, it took me 2 months to get back to that level of mobility from my own injury.
Conclusion to my ramble: I think it's completely okay to enjoy the Heyx3 performance despite the obviousness of Nino's injury. I've seen some fans bash others for enjoying it, but I don't think they should. To see Nino trying his best, and though he was quite visibly dragging his leg around, I truly don't think he was in as much pain as it might seem. His face was all smiles, and he was happy to make us, his fans, happy, so I think enjoying the performance would also make him happy. :)
