Bumble-Bee Class
*sigh*
Week before last Vanessa starts talking smack to me in front of Donna and Karma Yarn Lady. She held up a label off a roll of yarn and says, "Raquel and I want to make bumble-bee."
I looked up to see the pattern, she's across the room but I can see it's just this little bumble-bee. Sometimes when we're looking though patterns and come across something horrible we'll joke about how we should make this
"Are you serious?"
"Looook he's sooo cuttte."
"What?? I am not going to make no bumble-bee!"
"I would like to make this for my Grand-daughter and if you don't teach me your a bad teacher."
I decided I'd play it cool, I liked that she called me her teacher but I'm not forgetting if I wanted to I could make her wish she never showed me that bumble-bee.
My only reaction was to smile. Karma Yarn lady must have looked shocked because Vanessa said, "What she's always telling me I'm a Bad Grandma if I don't make this or that for my grandkids. I want to make this for my grand-daughter so I can use her lines on her if I want to!"
That made me laugh and she went another 5 minutes quoting things I've said to her to guilt trip her into crocheting something.
"Melanie, I think you should go home this weekend and make one so you can teach us next week."
Raquel wasn't there during this so the next day I sent her a message warning her of bumble-bee class. The night we found Peedee's family Anthony was so sad I decided to go ahead and make the bumble-bee.
HAHAHAH!!!
The pattern says to do a French Knot for the eyes and sew on the mouth *Bones impression* I'mma hooker not a quilter!!
I figured Raymond would know what to do but I was just going to do whatever.
I couldn't believe I was making it the entire time. When I was finished I sent a photo text to 'Nessa, Raquel and DERICK because I decided he's going to make one too. I wrote in the text how he looks retarded!
Hey I followed the pattern!!!
Tuesday night I hand out yarn to Raquel and Derick, Vanessa was off. I knew Raquel and Derick wouldn't be able to finish in one night and know Vanessa would be able to so R&D got a head start. When I told Raquel we'd have to ask Vanessa if she knows how we would sew on the face Raquel said Raymond would probably know.
The next night when I handed Vanessa her yarn I told her I didn't want to hear any "bitching" and we both smirked knowing that wouldn't happen.
We FOLLOWED the pattern and everyone's bee came out the same way. Raquel said with the head so big and the tiny body he looked retarted, Derick said it looked like a microphone. Vanessa asked how we planned on doing the eyes and mouth.
"What you don't know how?"
"No!"
"What?" I play shocked, "You do you knitter! I know you do, you know how to knit and your gonna say you can't sew!"
"Raymond would know."
"Of course Raymond would know, let's call him!"
yeahhh right!
We decided we would get some googly eyes. I said that sucks because I had ran out of gas near JoAnne's that night I cuold have picked some up when we were waiting for Jamie to pick us up. That would have been some great time management but alas we'd have to wait.
"I'm just going to clock out and run to Wal-mart!" I said half joking.
"Alison used to so she could go get those cross-stitch things."
"Ew!"
"Remember she used to do those little things."
"Yeah."
"She used to go."
"I'm going to go then!"
"Alison used to."
"You think Doug would mind?"
Doug was right there in the room with us but on a call so he didn't hear us. He got off the phone and I stood up.
"Doug I'm going to Wal-mart."
Derick tells him before Doug has a chance to react to my sudden announcement "It's a crochet emergency!"
"Yeah, life or death....I mean...well I guess I should have asked. Doug is it okay if I clock out to run to Wal-mart real quick? Thanks!!"
I didn't even let him answer me, I was already clocked out and half way out of the room. hahaha!
We where horrified to find out we'd have to use a glue gun to put the eyes on, Vanessa said they had sticky tape but what do we know about googly eyes?
I got some buttons for Derick, he's going to give his to his cat and wanted something that wouldn't come off to easy and choke the cat. I'm not sure how long buttons would last but it's gotta be longr then googly eyes.
Karma Yarn Lady comes in when Vanessa and Derick we're working on the legs. Vanessa and Derick both had a lot of complaining on that part. Karma Yarn Lady finally points out Vanessa got what she wished for.
Thursday night Derick is off. Last we knew he had about 2 legs to sew on and of course the face.
They couldn't believe when I went in and told them that I had lost the bumble-bee I was working on. Raquel said the same thing Jamie said, "How could you lose a BRIGHT Yellow bumble-bee?"
"I don't know, it's magic I tell ya!"
I had to make another one, they told me I had to so I complained and did what I was told. Stupid bumble bee!! All I had left to do was the face and I go and LOSE it? (came home and it was found by Jamie)
Vanessa and I had pointed out at least 5 things they could have done to the patter to make it look better. I made a THIRD bumble-bee but this time I tweeked the pattern.
Now this first one is Vanessa's.
This one is the one I tweeked. Vanessa said I should write the yarn pattern people and tell them how they mass producted a terrible pattern. She almost sounds serious.
