Sean celebrated three decades last Friday and treated the JGL out to dinner at Tony Roma's. others present were Ranulf, JM, Clair, Marcelle and Hailyn. the original plan was to have dinner at Heaven & Eggs but Sean changed his mind after seeing how it looked now. gone were the bright white walls with the puffy clouds to be replaced with blacks and browns. it didn't necessarily look bad. it was just wrong.
Sean couldn't really stay out late because of a doctor's appointment the next day because of health problems generally associated with heavy drinking. which was ironic because he doesn't drink. his health situation prompted resulted in much hilarity. accusations of possibly being a xenomorph or a replicant were made.
the food was great and the company was fun. I really don't get to see the JGL enough unless Sacha's around.
last week saw the third part of The Great Fables Crossover arc that's running across Fables, Jack of Fables and The Literals (the last of which is a mini created for this crossover) wherein the citizens of Fabletown are endangered on two fronts. on one side, they have the unknown threat (called Mr. Dark, but the Fables don't know that yet) that destroyed all the magic in their New York residence. on the other, they have anthropomorphic personifications of literary devices known as the Literals, one of whom is threatening to rewrite reality because he feels that it's been poorly written.
Mr. Dark doesn't interest me all that much. the all-powerful magical being thing is something that's been done to death, even if such villains are tried and tested. being threatened by literary devices, however, is new. I love how
the genres were depicted, especially since Horror is a cute little girl.
Fables is consistently a great read. anyone who loves literature should read this.
