Decided I really didn't feel physically up to walking to school today. Called in for the meeting instead, and that went okay. I don't know why, but I'm really having good days and bad days lately. Today, not so good. Yesterday wasn't awesome either, though it was more inability to get to a comfortable temperature/position than pain/soreness... v. weird, seeing as I was in the one air conditioned room (as usual). I had to go fix my fan and turn it on as well before I could fall asleep, and I was truly exhausted.
I feel so gimpy.
At least most of my work just involves hands, eyes, and brain. Those three aspects are slightly more dependable than the rest.
Aaaaaanyway. Let's see. Oh, right! Karl Rove has been exposed as definitely involved in the Plame Affair -- booyah. No confidence he'll get even a slap on the wrist though, honestly. Still, the optimist in me cherishes a small hope that this could be the Jenga™* block that sends the Shrubby structure all tumbling down. I live in hope, indeed.
Also,
this is cool. I wonder if Amazon orders clicked through them will really pay off the phone expenses? Be neat to see.
I've got jury duty the week of the 25th, which will be interesting. It does at least pay a lot better here than it did in SoCal, apparently. As I recall that was about $7/day; I think this said more like $40. Hell, I kinda hope they want me for a few days, honestly. I could use the money and I don't actually mind being a juror. Civic duty etc, you know. Bet the courthouse's nice and air conditioned, too. It's good I don't mind, as judging from my jury duty experiences so far, I'm a trial lawyer's ideal juror. The one time I needed to be excused because it was a major financial hardship for me ($7 a day, remember... and while I wasn't making much at the time it was our only income and more than $35 a week), the judge had to outright ASK one of the lawyers to use a dismissal on me so I could go**. May TPTB bless that man. <3
Anyway. Back to work...
* What the hell was the name of that similar game of pre-Jenga™ days that was in everyone's elementary school? The one where the wooden blocks were all different shapes and sizes and colours, including very oddly shaped bits that were a real bear to balance? Driving me nuts that I can't think of the name OR find the thing online.
** When LA County switched to the two week call-in period, but "one day or one jury," it got a LOT harder to get excused from a jury for reasons that weren't "one of the lawyers doesn't want you." Kind of a double or nothing situation, really.
