I have maybe 6 more missions to run before I've done everything that can be done in the game. Well, except for ultimate weapons ( Read more... )

I mentioned the linear-ness of the game in the comments I wrote up last night. The one place you can roam freely for the most part ... NOTHING OF INTEREST IS THERE. It's a dead planet of a dead culture - the only survivors being Vanille and Fang. So it's depressing as well as nothing being there.

I've been using the cactuar/Behemoth/two guys fighting leveling thing for a few days myself. Mostly, I find you get more CP in quicker shots by redoing those missions up at Titan's Trials, along with better component drops for sale or upgrade use. Speaking of that, did you manage to kill the Neo-whatever? It's basically an Ochu who is fucking hard to beat. I've died several times and even with upgraded equipment the Vanille-as-leader-casting-Death trick is NOT WORKING. I need to beat him so I can get that damn Growth Egg. By the time I beat him, I won't friggin' NEED it, I'll have filled my Crystarium on my own.

I was gonna use that tactic of letting enemies who spawn during battle spawn until I stumbled across the note in the guide book that any enemies spawned during battles don't count towards your CP score. Square went out of their way to make this game difficult and frustrating.

My deal is I need money. I'm upgraded on weapons to the point I need that Traz-whatever in order to get my ultimates. And when you make an ultimate weapon for a character, you unlock the six ATB gauge. It'll take me forever to earn the money to buy one. I heard the Admantortoises in the Steppe drop them once in a while, but I've been trying to use the strategy I picked up at the comm to kill those at my level - using a Summon to knock its legs out from underneath it - and I keep dying.

Yes... The one place I can bum around, and the most interesting thing is Titan meandering in the background and a ring of C'ieth stones that I want to solve since I just know that they'll turn into a jump gate to medieval England. (Standing stone circle anyone? [giggle]).

I'm about to go off and go through Titan's Trials again for the reasons you mentioned. As for Neochu, I was lucky enough to get the Death shot to work... But, that was the one in Titan's Trials... I'll have to go get that one now. Forgot about the Growth Egg until you mentioned it.

I'm dreading the last mission, since from what I read, that is the battle royale for the game.

As for the traz-gems, there are weapons that will give you them when dismantled. I looked at my player's guide, page 220 (first page of the Dismantle section). You have to buy one traz-gems, And create a Kain's Lance or Nirvana weapon... Max it out, then dismantle. It'll give you 3 traz-gems... So, two to use for ultimate weapons, one to do the process again.

I'm close to completing the missions for those Ce'ith stones and I hope for all the show you get when you accept one of those missions it turns out to be SOMETHING interesting. I noticed tonight, when I went to do another of the A missions, since my party is stronger now, all of the stones turn and look at him, too, when he gets pissed. So maybe those are l'Cie who were given a Focus by Titan himself?

I realized the other night that was a different Neochu. Tried to fight the one with the Growth Egg tonight, but he's much harder because he already has the seedlings at the start of the battle. And the Death shot is really hit or miss as it is. I spent twenty minutes trying it one time, then after about five hits in my last attempt, he went down. I've almost completed one secondary role for each character already, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's even worth the headache.

I may have to resort to the Kain's Lance/Nirvana method, but I'll need to get at least one Traz gem first. So it's either spend forever getting enough money to buy one or keep attempting to take down one of the Long Guis in the hopes he'll drop one.

I find it interesting that when you accept a mission from the ring, the plains get smoggy... makes it fun running across the plains... Luckily, I usually look at the mini-map more than the rest of the screen (Except to go "Oooo! Pretty flowers!") so I was able to avoid almost of the fiends.

I decided to go for the Growth Egg Neochu... After 5 tries, I did it. The second try, I killed him, but made the stupid mistake of not making a Delta Attack or Mystic Tower or Relentless Assault paradigm. I had only medics, saboteurs, and sentinels. Gah!

So, had to try again... Fifth try, I Death'ed Neochu first try. Booya! I think the fact that I maxed out my Malboro Wand (2nd level Belladona Wand) all the way helped...

As I'm nearing the end of the first secondary specializations, I'm glad I got the Growth Egg... 60000 CP! 120000 CP! Ack!

And, the Bomb Shells I'm getting (Which have really big upgrade potential when it's x3...) make upgrading nice.

I'm following the guides idea for CP farming in Titan Trials. I love Bugbears!!! With the growth egg, it's a huge reward... And, flowering cactaurs (When I can kill them) give me 15000 CP.

But, soon, I'll have to go searching for high paying kills for the money for the traz-gem.

I may go for one of the towering terrors soon. Last time I tried, I was cocky. I died first round. "But, I beat the game! I'm tough! I'm sassy!" I died. [sigh]
