Know how sometimes it's different with celebrities? When you're not a fan, because you know them? I could watch every single episode of Friends (gosh, what an appalling thought!) and still feel no connection, no kinship with Jennifer Anniston. This is not how I feel about Steve Carell.
I love Steve Carell in a way I can't explain. I'm not sure why this suddenly came into my head; I am not watching a Steve Carell movie, and haven't in a while. In fact, to call myself a "fan" of Steve Carell wouldn't be accurate at all. I haven't seen all his films, I don't watch The Office, and I don't really know anything about him as a person. But whenever I do see one of his films, I get the same feeling: I am not watching a movie star, but someone that I love. I'm not saying I'm in love with him (although he does have a certain... charm), more that it's like seeing a dear friend or family member. I think it's because his performances have a level of vulnerability and generosity that is rare and special. Like when you meet a new person and it's sorta awkward at first, but then they reveal something personal about themselves and you bond through a shared intimacy. This is how I feel about Steve Carell.
Celebrity kinship is rare, which I think is a much nicer word than "creepy."
