we started the historic trek from ollantaytambo, around 2500m above sea level, and made our way to machu picchu in 4 days, averaging 10 kms a day, going through high elevation grasslands to the cloud forests of washiwanuscca, to eventually end up at machu picchu. this was definitely one of the most physically demanding things i've ever done on my travels, but man was it ever worth it
