“You two can stop anytime now,” Kurt said, breaking a breadstick in half viciously and biting off one end of it. Blaine and Finn both looked up from the arrangement of condiments that were meant to represent some sort of football play and stared at him.
“What?” Finn asked.
“I didn’t invite you to dinner with us, Finn, so that you could spend the entire time talking about football with my boyfriend. I invited you because I was sick of you moping around the house wearing sweatpants.” Kurt leaned back against the booth, crossing his arms and glaring across the table at his stepbrother.
Blaine bit his lip, looking down at the table.
“Uh, sorry,” Finn said, setting down the salt shaker. After a moment he nudged it over a few inches. Blaine frowned, and reached over to the move the ketchup closer. They both tilted their heads to the side as they studied the new arrangement.
“Maybe if-“ Blaine reached for the steak sauce (they’d had to ask the waitress for it when they didn’t have enough condiments on the table to represent an entire offensive line).
Kurt sighed deeply, resting his elbows on the table and looking out across the restaurant. He was done inviting extra people to dinner when Blaine came to visit.
See, dinner was really awkward until Blaine got all huffy about Kurt wearing a blue and yellow scarf, because OMG MICHIGAN COLORS. HOW CAN I BEEN SEEN IN PUBLIC WITH YOU RIGHT NOW? And then Finn was all OH THANK GOD YOU ARE SANE and then they spent the rest of dinner talking about why the Buckeyes are awesome and now Kurt is sorry he ever introduced them (but deep down he's really happy they get along with each other, deep, deep down).
