If I had a camel, I think its back would be broken...

I'm sorry I haven't been posting or commenting much recently. I've been too fed up, but I do read my flist daily, and I do know how everyone's doing: we're all abiding, as manoah says.

At New Year, I started writing a 'review' of 2020, basing it on the photos I'd taken, but I gave up because it was so boring. Anyone want to see the new slippers I got on ( Read more... )

moan, lockdown

Hang in there! It's hard doing the right thing, isnt it?

I hope The Dude's words work.

Abiding with you.

Oh noooo a knackered boiler in January is the worst. I really hope they can fix it quickly and without too many visits.

It's SO hard to steel yourself to tell people to back away, I feel for you.

There's snow today, but I think I'm getting used to the cold, LOL, because it doesn't feel as bad!

I can't ask, I just quietly back away myself. But the two blokes -- who were very nice -- had me trapped in the kitchen. And when I realised that one of them had forgotten his goggles it was like there was a lump of plutonium on the floor!

Your washing up shenanigans remind me of camping holidays back in the day! I take it you don’t have a fireplace? I don’t have any fireplaces and I would love to have an alternative to my central heating. I hope it all gets resolved soon!!

Yes! I lived on a boat with no running water for about 15 years, so I know the drill, but I also know what a pain it is!

No, I've no fire and no immersion heater. A proper fire would be lovely. But... Yesterday I thought of using the tumble dryer, and it warmed the kitchen up quite a bit!

Oh hells bells, I hope you get sorted soon. It reminds me of when we were back in the UK and living in a 18th century cottage with no heating. While we waited for renovations to be complete we were washing in the morning in the very small basin of the doorstairs loo with the kettle. Not fun, so I totally sympathise with you.

Keep abiding my dear and wearing that lovely poncho and your Christmas wraps.

{Totally ignoring the point of your story} "Wow, you have lived in some brilliant places!"

How is Vancouver Island? I read the Canucks message board so I know that everyone in Vancouver's as glum as we are. I would normally be preparing for my trip there about now :-(

Thank you. It is a nice poncho, isn't it?!

Hee, ignore away! The cottage was from when we came back to the UK in 2014 before we decided that we'd made a mistake and went back to BC in 2015.

The Island is fine. Most people are just hunkered down and getting as grumpy as everywhere else. Our trouble is that being on the west coast and therefore the mildest part of Canada in winter, we're getting a lot of 'snowbirds' from the eastern provinces who'd normally go south to the US. A lot of people are very unhappy about folk coming in, but in a province the size of BC it's kind of hard to enforce a border with the rest of the country - although we do have a shut border with the US which makes us all happy :)

Take care, hon.

I think it was so brave of you to decide to go back.

Are the hotels open? I've been worrying that the one I stay in might go bust. I've met a lot of 'snowbirds', especially in the last couple of years, when it's been unseasonably warm. I always ask for the same room, so I actually have Vancouver neighbours! -- a couple from Toronto who spend 3 months, every winter, in the room next to mine. I'd been wondering what they were doing this year.

Oh dear, what a dreadful time. I know how worrying it is to have strangers in the house right now, too. I hope it's sorted really quickly.

Thank you! I've always been a bit worried, because I'm not a tidy person, but I'm past that now :-)
