If I had a camel, I think its back would be broken...

I'm sorry I haven't been posting or commenting much recently. I've been too fed up, but I do read my flist daily, and I do know how everyone's doing: we're all abiding, as manoah says.

At New Year, I started writing a 'review' of 2020, basing it on the photos I'd taken, but I gave up because it was so boring. Anyone want to see the new slippers I got on ( Read more... )

moan, lockdown

Oh hells bells, I hope you get sorted soon. It reminds me of when we were back in the UK and living in a 18th century cottage with no heating. While we waited for renovations to be complete we were washing in the morning in the very small basin of the doorstairs loo with the kettle. Not fun, so I totally sympathise with you.

Keep abiding my dear and wearing that lovely poncho and your Christmas wraps.

{Totally ignoring the point of your story} "Wow, you have lived in some brilliant places!"

How is Vancouver Island? I read the Canucks message board so I know that everyone in Vancouver's as glum as we are. I would normally be preparing for my trip there about now :-(

Thank you. It is a nice poncho, isn't it?!

Hee, ignore away! The cottage was from when we came back to the UK in 2014 before we decided that we'd made a mistake and went back to BC in 2015.

The Island is fine. Most people are just hunkered down and getting as grumpy as everywhere else. Our trouble is that being on the west coast and therefore the mildest part of Canada in winter, we're getting a lot of 'snowbirds' from the eastern provinces who'd normally go south to the US. A lot of people are very unhappy about folk coming in, but in a province the size of BC it's kind of hard to enforce a border with the rest of the country - although we do have a shut border with the US which makes us all happy :)

Take care, hon.

I think it was so brave of you to decide to go back.

Are the hotels open? I've been worrying that the one I stay in might go bust. I've met a lot of 'snowbirds', especially in the last couple of years, when it's been unseasonably warm. I always ask for the same room, so I actually have Vancouver neighbours! -- a couple from Toronto who spend 3 months, every winter, in the room next to mine. I'd been wondering what they were doing this year.

I'm not sure if the hotels are open or not. I'm assuming so, but to be honest, I haven't actually looked. It's wonderful that you had actual neighbours that you knew when you visited Vancouver. I suspect your Toronto friends are in Vancouver if their hotel is open. I know all the campgrounds are full, so I'm assuming the hotels must be operating in some capacity.
