ATP2006

So, I went to All Tomorrow's Parties at the weekend. I was good.

Friday

TSGDAC: Old men playing R 'n' B with enthusiasm and experience but little skill.
The Scientists: Imagine dressing Dan Hartland as Mal, putting him in the same band for twenty years and not letting him write any songs and this is the outcome. Just say no.
Comets On Fire: They played until their was nothing left of their guitars. Excellent.
Black Mountain: Whatever. Far better on CD.
Mudhoney: Pure rock and roll. Practice does make perfect.

Saturday

Magic Markers: Shit.
Oneido: Doesn't count.
TV On The Radio: Excellent use of playing "tunes" making them a rarity for the day.
The Liars: Deeply disappointing. Kept pissing about.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Wicked.

Sunday

Espers: snooze inducing.
Spleen: unadvertised addition to the line up started off very well by giving fusion a good name. Then in keeping with the weekend they started pissing about.
Vetiver: A man with a feather in his hat.
Bert Jansch: absolutely brilliant. One man, one guitar, filled the room.
Vashti Bunyan: inoffensive but unexciting. Didn't realise she did that song off the mobile phone advert.
Devandra Banheart: unconscious.

Substantially warmer than last year so I swam in the sea for the first time this year and got mild sunburn. Which was good.

This post is dedicated to brassyn whose presence was sadly missed.
