...since I got my tongue pierced. Yes, I did it. When I was on vacation visiting the boy, I got it done. I had always wanted it, but had my reservations due to "the clamp". I thought about it for months, and knew that if I was ever going to get it done, I would do it in November since I had nearly 2 weeks off of work. I thought about it (lots!) and he took me to get it done on November 11th. I was way more nervous than I needed to be for the actual piercing. The girl that did it was really good -- good enough that the next time I want to get pierced I will just wait and go back there. I had a few days of painful eating...I couldn't eat soft foods like mashed potatoes. The first night I had pork, cut up small and nearly eaten whole. On about the 3rd or 4th night, I managed to eat Fuddruckers...which I think we both were a bit surprised by. It was the first meal that I had been able to eat the entire thing without giving up before I was actually full because it "hurt too much".
By the time I came home (about a week later), most of the swelling had gone down and I could eat just about anything. My speech was a bit off for about a week, although I still had problems with "th" and "s" if I wasn't thinking or was talking a lot. Another week and my speech was pretty much back to normal, and I braved it and had nachos from Applebee's (after craving them for 2 weeks!).
Wow, time flies! I can't believe I've had it for nearly a month now. I love it though...and am very happy that I opted to get it done. ;)
