bagpacking for japan!

Apr 12, 2011 14:08

Over six hours of bagpacking we managed to raise just under £1200 for the cause! Wow! It was a great day and generally, people were very generous. Many invisible thanks to all of them, and may karma reward them most lovingly!

It was pretty much the entire local Japanese community doing it-- my mum has this network of Japan Mums that all get together occasionally to natter and share, and so it was all of the Japan Mums and some of their kids. One of them was a six-year-old boy, Kai, and he was getting twenty pound notes stuffed into his pot. We were all wearing yukatas and handing out origami to people who donated.

There were two kids in a pushchair and I handed each of them an origami crane and the following exchange ensued:

Kid 1: Mine's a swan! :3
Kid 2: MINE'S A ROCKET! >:D

That was my biggest lol of the day.

Anyhow, it's been a busy few days but I'm hoping to get writing again sooner rather than later. I'd also love to send EPIC BIRTHDAY LOVE to miyabiarashi and adifferentdrum! :D Hope you had a great one, you guys!

lulz, adventure, family, journal, joy
