I lived through Six - I can live through Ten *sighs* yes I really am that old...
Me, too. Although I kind of remember liking Six (I haven't watched any of his episodes in years). I think the main difference is that Six knew he was an ass. Ten thinks he's God. I think, too, that the thing that bothers me most about Ten is that the show thinks he's wonderful. I was cheering when Davros pointed out all his hypocrisy, and what did he do? He pushed all the responsibility for the genocide off onto Hand!Ten and dumped him off in another universe (the more I think about it, the more it seems like Ten dumped both Hand!Ten and Rose off so he couldn't have to bother with them anymore.)
I look to see the character.
Oh, me, too. (Now, I admit, I gravitate toward actors who can make me feel that on a consistent basis.) Characterization can pull me through a lot of bad plotting. With Ten, for me, there's a fatal collision of a character I don't like with an actor I find very difficult to watch, technically. I think I could take one at a time - Barrowman's not that good an actor, but he's good when he's Who!Jack; but both together is difficult.
