I think I really hated that ep. Only I felt so little emotional connection to anything that was happening, hate might be too strong a word. Maybe I only hate Rusty for being so amazingly shit at writing. That was just...awful. Although, the very end did make me laugh because Wilf so obviously has a huge man-crush on the Doctor. That reaction just goes to show how lame I thought this effort was because I kinda doubt laughter was what RTD was going for when he destroyed one of my all-time favorite characters and shit all over the entire last season.
I am feeling rage. Maybe I need to step away from the computer before I say things I'll regret...
I've realized that I've become more angry since I wrote this entry. As I said in my response to Angela, I'd heard all these spoilers before, and so it deadened the impact a little. But, yeah, not happy.
The only thing I've seen that made me grin - and I can't believe I didn't notice this before - was that clone!Ten was wearing a maroon T-shirt under his jacket.
But OTOH, the Doctor dismisses clone!Ten as the receptacle of all his genocide. WHAT????!!!! He gets to disown all that, even though it was him?

YES YES YES. What the motherfucking FUCK was that all about. The whole POINT of the post-time war Doctor is that he commited genocide twice over. Where the fuck does he get off acting as though he has some moral high ground. Jesus christ I hated that episode. There were a couple of cute moments, and I thought Jack was brilliant. He is always about 8 million times more awesome on Who than on TW. Catherine Tate acted her ass off. I liked that Marth and Rose hugged. But overall, that was a steaming pile of shit.
I think the only genuine moment I loved was when Jackie faked the Doctor out about her son's name...
No, that was hideous. It's part of the last three series' tearing down of practically everything that was good and right about S1. Rose gets a Ten who's really Nine - so all the downsides of Nine with none of the good sides. Although, he is part Donna, which is a little something. But yick.
God, I really do hate Ten. And I despair of those who cannot see what's wrong with him. It's not even Tennant's lazy acting (see compliments above). It's that he's a self-centered, self-indulgent, smug, arrogant, bastard. I never liked Four all that much, but he never repulsed me the way Ten does. To be honest - and it doesn't reflect well on folks - I think a lot of people just fancy Tennant and are willing to forgive his crap
( ... )
I'd love for RTD to write a middle-aged (young middle-aged) love triangle story with Chris Eccleston, Lesley Sharp, and Catherine Tate. Hell, Lesley and Catherine can be in love with each other for all I care.
You just broke my brain. Seriously. I'm speechless. That would be...fantastic.

Which, to me, is even weirder because I don't find him physically attractive. But yeah. I think, maybe eventually I will be able to take the few good things that there were in the ep (particularly those parts involving Jack and Sarah Jane, and Davros calling the Doctor out on all his bullshit) and not be so painfully annoyed by the rest of it. But that will take time.

Wouldn't it? People, these are actors who need to be written for, often. They are so stunningly good. I can't remember, have you seen The Second Coming? The opening three minutes of that are a brilliant testament to writing and acting and how much they can convey. Three minutes in (it can't count as a spoiler if it's three minutes in, can it?), and not only is the kiss between LS and CE sweet and sexy, you actually feel this powerful sense of "It's about bloody time!" And we've only known them three minutes.
Tennant isn't exactly my type, but then I don't have a "type" - I've found all sorts of people attractive, depending on their personality/skills/etc. That said, I've come to find him kind of repulsive, and if I were going for that type, Jarvis Cocker is a lot better at it.
To be honest, I didn't think much of Jack in this ep (not bad, just not really registering), but SJS was awesome.

Yeah, angrier now.
