I'm convinced it's not a real regeneration (or a permanent one, at least); Tennant's been photographed filming the Christmas Special, for one thing, and he was confirmed for next year's specials.

I didn't like Rose being jealous over Martha either, but my thought was that it's not so much specifically over Martha, but rather that she thought the fourth quadrant was for her, so when Martha appeared there instead she was hurt and jealous and feeling ignored/pushed out etc - as if she'd come all this way for nothing. I think she'd have reacted that way no matter who appeared in that quadrant.

And I really enjoyed it too, but I'm alternately screaming and on the edge of my seat!

I'm pretty sure the regeneration is going to be reset somehow, although I don't know how they're going to do it in some way that isn't a big giant reset, and they've already rung that bell. They're going to wear out the fabric of time and space with all this back and forth! (That's actually a plot point in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation - a parallel with global warming, but I liked it nonetheless!)

Re: Rose, I agree at first it was just because she wasn't part of the transmission, although she was pulling that "But I'm special!" thing that I didn't like so much in S2. It's an interesting contrast to Donna, who's always insisting she's "nothing special". I heard the "sound of drums" and felt a little sick. I really want her to be a human.

The other fear is that, because we didn't see Harriet's death, she might be Dalekized, made into a traitor or villain or such like. I'm actually far more interested in Donna and Harriet at the moment than anything else.

Well, except maybe "stolen planets pretty!"

Yeah, I'm worried about Harriet too. I liked her. Always did. Even made the Doctor back down once to her in fic ;)

As for Donna, I'm so hoping she's just Donna and brilliant. But we'll see...

the rumour of two Tens

OH, GOD, NO!!

Seriously (well, actually, that might have been serious)-- not a train wreck yet? Thank God. Now if they can only keep it up. Resist the big finale "timey-wimey" (argh) messes, romantic chaos, the not-actually-obligatory Ten as Jesus moment... There's no reason it has to be a train wreck. *crosses fingers*

I want Donna to be human. I don't want her to be "magical". I want her to be that special because she's human and real. That's exactly what I thought when I heard there was reason to believe Donna wasn't exactly human. "Wait, Donna's not human?! --Oh, god, of course she's not human. She's bright and she's dynamic and she talks to him almost like he's her equal in some way. Goddamnit to hell, of course she's not human. Someone tell me, please, how can a series that can't get its lazy arse off Earth be so pervasively misanthropic ( ... )

OH, GOD, NO!!

I know. My idea of hell on earth. God, why is this guy so popular? I really, really don't get it, he's just awful in every way I can imagine! Other than having a lot of energy, but it's so unfocused, it's just NOISE!!!

It's not a trainwreck yet... however, there's a whole lot of potential for one, and I'll be amazed if we get out with ONLY a Big Giant Reset of WTF.

That's what amazes me. The old show was certainly patronizing and paternalistic a lot of the time, but at least they were lording it over different peoples most of the time. I find this view of humanity off-putting in the extreme.

SJS and Nine would be heartbreakingly beautiful. SJS with Ten was kind of melancholy-cute, but I think LS and CE could have cut our hearts out and danced them into tiny little pieces. But it would hurt so goodI'm all for the PotW retcon. I've not written anything that goes past that yet, but I've had a Bad Wolf ( ... )

Hang on... there is one circumstance under which two Tens could be a good thing... if one of them happened to be from an antimatter universe... ;) Of course, that would probably destroy whatever planet they happened to be on, which is probably too high a price. But if it were an uninhabited planet, well...

I'll be amazed if we ONLY get out with a Big Giant Reset of WTF-- ha, you're right. And given how well they handled the last reset button, that in and of itself isn't likely to be good news. There are a few ways to handle reset buttons. Not many, but they exist. They... did not stumble upon any of them. They tried for consequences, but they were so very inconsequential that it was hard to take seriously. Still, it's the least of the potential hazards... (Please let them go easy on the Jesus this year... Why do Christian groups never seem to get bothered about the things that could actually be offensive?)

Plotting out difficult patches? Absolutely. Downright fun. Writing out difficult patches? Bit trickier. ^^ Of course, what's " ( ... )
