[The feed starts up with a lovely view of... grass. Yes, grass. It seems somepony left the 'Gear face down on the ground, though the audio recording is still going smoothly!]

This is the worst day ever!

[Oh, there's some unhappy chirping in the background, as the 'Gear lifts up, off the grass, and... there's a close-up of a Swablu, who just ( Read more... )

[Ohh. Man. Coop's missed that voice, and he's missed that girl, but once again here's someone who doesn't remember being here before. So it takes him a moment to turn on the video feed, but he does in the end, with a sort of ... careful manner about him.]

Just got here?

[HIII ;;]

[Well, that's probably a good thing. After all, she's still adjusting.

Dash is... still a bit frustrated on this end, but she's trying to stay chill.]

Yep. Just got here... maybe an hour ago.

[He can tell, so he'll just tread lightly and see if he can help out.]

Do you need a rundown of the situation?

I guess so. I tried asking around, but everybody in that town thought I was crazy.

[Of course, she did mention being a pegasus and all that. And might've been a bit too up-front. But, hey, it was pretty shocking.]

The locals don't tend to be much help.

[If you need anything, the network is always your best bet.]

You're in a different world. No one knows how we're brought here, much less why - nor how to get back to our respective homes. If you're not a human you'll become one on arrival. You're given a pokémon as a partner and the directive to either catch and train them, or breed them.

It takes a while to get used to.

Train them?

[She looks over at her Swablu, who chirps up a storm and flails his wings around. ...snort.]

For what? Tricks? Talking like some kinda parrot?

[Because, yes, Dash has yet to figure out the whole battling thing. She's thinking of pet stuff.]

You could. But most people here train them to fight others of their kind.

[It had taken him a while to come to terms with the idea, as it had pretty much been glorified cock fighting in his eyes when he first showed up, but since then he's accepted his role as a trainer.]

This guy, fighting?

[Pfffffft, oh man.]

What's he gonna do? Slap 'em with his wings?

[Chiiirp! That Swablu huffs and pecks her on the head.]

Yeesh, okay. I get it!

[He smiles a little in a fond amusement.]

You'll be surprised at what they can do, Dash.

Guess I'll take your word for it.

[Otherwise she might end up with some bruises from too much pecking.]

So all I've gotta do is let him fight other 'pokey-mon'.

[Man, Fluttershy'd have a fit.]

And that's actually okay around here?

[Because animals fighting does sound pretty violent. But maybe it's just like a sport. She can roll with that.]

It is. A lot of pokémon seem to want to fight and they possess remarkable endurance. Though if you come into possession of a pokémon who doesn't want to, I'd suggest letting them out of it.

So it's like a sport to them. That doesn't sound too bad.

[Oh, she's grinning now. Weird, human body or not, Dash still loves a good challenge.]

[And he recognises that trait in her. She's the same, memories of Johto or not.]

It isn't.

Then I guess I'll just have to train him up. Make him that pipsqueak into a lean, mean fighting machine.

[Because, of course, she wants to be the very best. Like no one ever was.]

So what's this about catching 'em?

Did you find the red and white balls in your backpack? You throw them at weakened pokémon and they're caught inside. After that you can let them out and recall them as you see fit.

Wait, they can fit inside those things?

[Weeeird.]

So are the balls magic?
