(no subject)
i had such plans for today. after class and work (which ended at 2pm) i was going to hole myself up in the music library and research for my music paper (due in two weeks). when i left work, i decided, well, i can just go to my room and work on my government paper, and do the music paper tomorrow, instead of my govt. paper. that was 1 hour and 45 mins ago, and since then i've managed to do 2 loads of laundry (waiting for it to come out of the dryer in 12 minutes), read the transcript of the drexel law online chat that i missed last night, and talk to jared and kathryn for a couple of minutes.
and now, im sitting here typing in the lj. *sigh* why is it that when i WANT to be the most productive it just doesn't happen?
anyway, two days ago some psycho nutjob killed 32 people at Virginia Tech, and had the nerve to mail NBC pictures and video of himself before his killing spree. what the hell is this world coming to? tom made a wisecrack about how this is when he advocates for stronger gun control laws, and i advocate for everyone to get a gun so they can protect themselves. my logic is, that if we lived in the type of world where stronger gun control would actually be effective and prohibit people from getting guns, then hey, why not have them? however, i feel that in REALITY people will get guns, bombs, etc to do what they want because where there's a will, there's a way, and we should be able to protect ourselves from these dangerous crazy motherfuckers who have no respect for life.
and i'm not even going to get into the Supreme Court decision about how the ban on partial-birth abortion was passed. talk about serious deprivation of being able to do what you want with your own body. i've been hoping for a riot or two about this whole thing, but i haven't heard anything yet. if you do, let me know where i can join the bra-burning session.
