So...

I haven't been posting much this week because it's Golden Week, the week of vacations. We already get another week off from school but unfortunately, everyone needed it. We're already wrecked from the boring monotany of the classes. I don't know if it's because the weather is getting better, most of us are in classes with teachers or people we can't stand (I was one of the few that lucked out this semester), or if it's just that we've finally become bored of the same schedule and schooling day after day, but getting through each class has become a trial; time has slowed to a painful crawl when we're in class.
I've only missed 1 out of 36 classes I've had so far, though. That's pretty good considering I know a person who has already missed/skipped a third, and I don't even know if this person is aware of the new rule that if you don't attend 90% of the classes, you fail. Anyway, I try my hardest not to skip, even though the temptation is great.

I'm trying to study. It's hard. At this point, there's really no other way to learn the language other than memorizing/countlessly repeating/beating it into your head and hope something sticks.

Learning the differences between toshite, toshiteha, toshitemo, toshitara, nishite, nishiteha, nishitemo, nishitara, etc. etc. Little changes of the particles change the meanings. It's just like any other language, of course, I just wish there was an easier way to learn.

I tried okonomiyaki last Saturday for the first time at a restaurant with Tam and Liz, it was really good.

The weather has been rainy on and off. Today was fair but terribly windy. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I've been sitting outside in the sun to get some color, I hate being horribly pale (although pale seems to be fashionable in Japan, actually). I can already see a change. I just don't want to get sun poisoning like I did last summer; those were the 4 worst days of my life.

Hope everybody is doing well.
