i get tired of thinking of subjects

Things at work are crazy. The Ohio budget is currently in great turmoil and we were all sent this "personal" video message from Strickland talking about ways he is going to balance budget (by reducing state staff). Everyone is gossiping and guessing and it's kind of annoying. They're supposedly going to be offering buy outs, voluntary and mandatory and then not backfilling positions and then laying off people. I feel relatively safe being in Medicaid, which is a high profile part of ODJFS and the state budget. I can't imagine how the effing program would run if they cut more of us. We're already desperately understaffed. But it will be interesting to see how the whole thing plays out, I guess. I know lots of people in my area will be taking the buy out if it's offered. how exciting.

In other work related stuff, the interview went meh. I mean, I'm pretty sure my inexperience was glaringly obvious. But I didn't crash and burn and managed to be well spoken and composed, even if my answers to the pre-formated interview questions (which are chosen for the interviewers who cannot ask me for more information or to elaborate on the answers, ugh don't get me started on that...) were rather skimpy. Oh well, my philosophy for job searching is similar to throwing a handful of darts on a dartboard - see what sticks. I don't even know when or if I will be notified about anything - if I don't get one of the positions, the state never tells you. You only get news if you're offered a position. dumb. but then that's why I have friends in HR. Anyway I won't be getting the job so it doesn't matter :)

Tomorrow I'm supposed to have some inner city high schooler shadow me for a few hours. I don't know how I let myself be talked into this. Hm. The packet says I'm supposed to think of an activity to do with him/her. yuck. Maybe I'll tell him/her answer the phone and talk to an "irate" consumer. HA! High schoolers are the worst too, I don't even know how to talk to them, I didn't even know how to talk to them when I *was* in high school.

Also, my pilot friend Ryan came into town briefly last night (his company is based in Columbus, oddly) and we got dinner at Hounddog's. It's always so nice to see Ryan. I was thinking about it tonight and he's one of my oldest friends that I still communicate with. I've know him since my senior year in high school and he's visited me at every single place I've lived, including my crappy dorm in France. I wish he lived nearby, he's so easy going and fun. It's not really fair that he's never been close enough to be a friend-that-I-do-stuff-with. He's always the friend I only see for a few jam packed days. Anyway, he made me really want to get my stuff together and go visit Jim in Seattle this May. I just wish plane tickets were cheaper, why are they still $500. I think I live in la-la land where plane tickets should only cost $100. Here are photos of Ryan and I:

Lastly, I know I'm the last person in the internet to discover this video, but it made me laugh. a lot!

oh by the way betch? FUCK YOU!
