...a fantard moment!
So... rewind time by about 15 years (15? yes, 15, LORD I'm old...) when I was still pre-college and didn't have many friends. The group that I got pulled into via my friend Heather were all a bunch of theater nuts, who loved to take road trips belting out showtunes and shoving theater soundtracks down my throat. Now, I'm a lit nerd... but I will admit, I do love theater as well, not as much then as I do now, but still. These folks introduced me to a lot of great plays, mainly Andrew Lloyd Webber productions (and, polar oppositely, Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I've actually seen live action IN COSPLAY and yes, I did the whole "audience participation" bits too. And yes, there are folks out there with photographic evidence of Nikkie in a Magenta-French Maid costume and I WILL RETRIEVE THESE IMAGES AND BURN THEM FOR THE SAKE OF ALL). Specifically, these folks were MAD for Phantom of the Opera, and I soon joined them. The original production featuring Sarah Brightman, was beautiful and poignant and emotion-filled and I loved it...
Fast forward to... well, today. Was skulking about
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com (and NOT Linkara's comic reviews, shocking, I know!) and spied that Paw had reviewed Repo!: The Genetic Opera. Heather has SEEN this movie and given it a good review but she completely FAILED to mention that Sarah Brightman played a role in it! And ya know what? Sarah Brightman still KICKS ASS. This woman is over 50 years old and looks amazing and her voice?! It still gives me CHILLS. I mean...
LOOK! LOOK AT HER! Doesn't that performance just send chills down your spine?! Isn't it haunting and poignant and captivating?
I... I need to track down a copy of this movie... LIKE NOW. RIGHT NOW. OMG...
