Just some Darren Criss fangirling here...
I saw his opening night of How to Succeed! It was amazing! Truly, truly amazing. I really wasn’t expecting amazing because Darren only had a whole two weeks of rehearsal, and I knew what Brotherhood of Men was supposed to look like. That is a complicated routine, but he did it well. It was just so good and completely surpassed my expectations. It was amazing to see him at his first curtain call. You could tell that he was feeling amazed too because he just accomplished his dream. That look of gratitude.
I didn’t get to meet him at the stage door, though I did see him from afar. That was cool. It was nice to be able to hear him thank us all for being there.
Oh, and Charlene Kaye was less than ten feet away from me when she was standing in line to get it. That was pretty rad as well.
I did have a couple problems with behavior. People walked out after Brotherhood of Man. What the actual fuck? There are still actors on stage acting. IT WAS NOT OVER. Yet at least 30 people in the mezzanine alone left. They were leaving to get to the stage door. That is the RUDEST thing I have ever seen. If you love Darren, you wait until the end and give him a standing ovation. Don’t be disrespectful because you want an autograph.
