Easter

I like Easter. I like the sense of renewal and rebirth. Even though I didn't participate in Lent this year, I feel refreshed. The wind blowing outside seems to be taking away all the negative energy that can build up. I am content.

I hosted a lovely bbq last night. I'm pretty sure everyone enjoyed themselves, and of course there was more than enough food! There are something like 20 beer bottles in my recycling, we went through 1.5 batches of Sangria, and a small bottle of vodka. I was tipsy, but not drunk. My house got thoroughly cleaned (except the bookshelf and my dresser, but whose counting?) and other than a load of dishes and a bunch of laundry, I have a pretty lazy day ahead of myself.

Tomorrow starts Spring quarter. I just looked at my schedule, and I have an A&P exam on the 6th day of class. No rest for the weary, that's for sure. These 2 weeks out of school have renewed my energy levels for it. I'll make it to June just fine, then take the summer off. Well, as far as classes are concerned anyhow.

I'm sitting down with Debbie next Monday (not tomorrow) to talk about plans for the summer. There will be a new manager at my old store, so Debbie isn't sure where I'll fit it. Her big thing (mine too) is to bring me back at my previous rate of pay. Between now and then I need to nail down with my sister exactly when she'll be here, so I can schedule my return. I'm seriously considering July 9th (or whatever that Monday is) to September 5th (or whatever that Sunday is.) It would be 8 weeks at Tully's, book-ended by my vacations.

Things with Dale are static. Some days that's ok, some days it's not. Today it's fine. I know I sound like a broken, wishy-washy record in regard to him. Thing is, he's a good man. I'm taking it one day at a time right now, and again, that's enough.

He cleaned and re-organized our office yesterday, before tackling the deck. Our house looks nice. I bought area rugs, but he didn't really like them, so they're going back here in just a little bit.

I have my schedule worked out through the first week of June. This summer will include not only working, and 2 vacations, but tracking down all the documents I need to apply to nursing school. Things like my MMR and Varicella titer, which I can get from Prov. A copy of my Tetanus booster, which is fortunately current, and my records indicating that I completed the Hep B series. I also need my certificate of completion from Skagit Valley College, regarding my CNA class. While I never used that license in a professional sense, taking the course 11 years ago is saving me 3 months and $700. Bellevue reviewed it, and it satisfies the requirement for their Nursing program. Must also get a background check done, and prep to take the TEAS test in December or January.

It's funny, so much of my year is planned. Having spent so much time looking no more than a month in advance, I realize it is liberating to have an outline. Applications to the Nursing program are due Feb 4, 2011. I learned that my school has an agreement with UW Bothell that allows students to complete the 2 year RN program at Bellevue, take the NCLEX exam, and spend just one more year to earn a BSN. I just need to make sure I get the extra classes covered between Winter and Spring quarters 2011.

So essentially, I'm planned through 2013, maybe even 2014. Wow.

Time to get moving! We had a lovely breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns, toasted pound cake (leftover) and fruit. I'm pretty much not cooking for a couple days!

Happy Easter everyone!
