I Whine Like a Mule. I'm Still Alive.

Nov 08, 2004 22:28

I'm still alive.  I'm just posting to say that, really.  Lovely weekend at home.  The Niece totally remembers me!  And she says "Betta"!

Much to do here, back in my other home.  Top of that list?  Think of seminar paper topic and post 3-4 paragraph abstract by 11:00 am tomorrow.  And read (not even study, just read for the first time) last two chapters of History of Broadcasting in preparation for exam tomorrow.

What do I want to do?  GO TO SLEEP.  This whole "waking up at 5:30 a.m. and driving for five hours, then meeting with a student to discuss his paper, then having a 2-hour staff meeting, then meeting with same student while wolfing down the other half of the sandwich I had for breakfast, then teaching for two hours, then walking home in the cold" thing is on my Not Fun list.

Ooh, I'm feeling cranky.  I really shouldn't go to sleep until I come up with this topic.  I know people who can survive on 5-6 hours of sleep.  I am not one of them.  I once spent an entire summer sleeping 10 hours a night, thinking I would eventually catch up and go back to sleeping a normal 8.  Nope.  My body is stubborn about these things.

I should end this post on a happier note.  Oh!  secretary_rpg!  omigodsogood.  Really.  Things are finally turning around there and I'm melting into a little puddle at the collection of new chapters awaiting me after a weekend away.  I want to have this fic's babies.

That could be a topic, right?  The way fans use sexual hyperbole in giving feedback?  My original topic was LJ fannish icons, but I can't think of anything actually useful to assert.  I'm more in the "isn't that neat?" category, which doesn't make for a great thesis.
