Can't post this now since there isn't even free WIRELESS in this stupid airport

[Friday]

AWESOME.

I've been at the airport for four hours now, and our plane hasn't even arrived.  The delay is such that the plane for the next flight to Minneapolis has arrived, and they're letting everyone on the 4:50 flight have it, and keeping us 2:30 people waiting for the next  plane.  We're already screwed over, might as well keep us that way and let all the 4:50 flight passengers get there on time.  ::glares at 4:50 flight passengers::

I suggested to my seat companion that we could totally take those 4:50 wimps, and we commiserated.  At least I'm not missing a connecting flight like he is.  He says that he heard Detroit is so hosed that they're telling people they won't be able to fly there until Sunday.  They suggested flying to Chicago tomorrow, then to Toledo, then driving up to Detroit.

Stupid Detroit.  Weather in Cinci is fine.  Weather in Mpls is fine.  Our plane is trapped in Stupid Detroit.

[Saturday]

Well, I ended up at the airport for six hours, but at least I got out.  Apparently our plane was the first one that came in from Detroit all day, at 5:30 pm.  Weather is so weird.  We had freezing rain Friday morning in Kentucky, followed by 65 degree sunny skies (which dtiernan and I promptly took advantage of by taking a walk through Sawyer Park by the river).  And now it's 34 degrees again in Kentucky.

In Minneapolis, however, things are slightly chillier.  For example, while it is 34 degrees in Covington, it is negative 9 degrees here.  While it "feels like" 30 degrees in Covington, it "feels like" NEGATIVE 33 DEGREES here.  That is our current windchill.  Man.

This afternoon was actually okay.  It's been snowing all day (I hear we got 5 inches), so The Niece and I went out to play in the backyard.  Not even that cold, really.  And now this.

Lots of quality time with The Fam so far. betty2, liz_a_belle, and The Niece were all able to meet me at the airport last night (hey, at least the delay had some silver lining qualities).  We stopped at McDonald's on the way home, as it was 8:30pm in my belly and way past my dinnertime.  Then we got home and stayed up talking way too late.

I neglected to lock my bedroom door and was awakened at some point before 7:00am this morning (I decided not to look) by a five-year-old clambering onto my air mattress and chattering away.  When I asked if Mom or Grandma had said she could come wake me up, she replied blithely that "they don't like it when she bothers them in the morning."  She was pretty much attached to my hip for the rest of the day.  We all went shopping this morning and got some last-minute items.  The Niece and I had the afore-mentioned snow frolicking in the afternoon, followed by playing on my computer, followed by wrapping presents.  My progress on the wrapping slowed considerably when she joined, but who can resist that face?  She thinks the world of me right now.  I'm a celebrity in my own house *g*

Tomorrow I'm singing at church with my old choir, and we're having a birthday dinner for zendad2001 in the evening.  I'm going to try and actually post over break this time around, really.  So maybe you'll even get to hear about those things!
