and a burning question arises. What in the heck is so fantabulous about Find-A-Word/Word-Circle/Hidden-Word puzzle books? These things go flying off the shelf. Why? There is like zero challenge to looking at a grid of letters, maybe 10 x 10, and finding a five letter word. Whoop-de-doo. Are they so popular because they are so brain-numbingly easy? Is that the allure? 'Cause I can't figure it out. Personally, I'm kinda hooked on Sudoku. These puzzles require actual thinking; logic. I like to start with the Medium/Hard ones and work my way to the back; steamrolling through the easy ones if I get momentarily stuck. Yet the people to whom I recommend Sudoku books back away in fear; clutching their four or five "varieties" of Circle-the-Amazingly-Easy-to-Find-Word books in a death grip. Different strokes…
