God, I haven't read this yet because I have no time (the government changed something important in the law TEN DAYS BEFORE MY FINAL EXAM) but what does it stay about me that I clicked on your link as soon as I saw the phrase "Rapey Sex" ?

Ummmmmm...

Anything I say about you comes back double to me since I wrote it.

Good luck on your exam!

Oh, and Happy Birthday! Although I've probably managed to be late by your time, it's still your birthday here!

Sorry it took me this long to reply, but thank you! Yeah, I know I suck. But! I did find out today about a case in England where the conviction was overturned because the jurors had invoked the spirit of the murder victim via Ouija Board and the spirit told them to vote guilty. Is that not the best case ever or what?

OMG, it was almost embarrassing how excited I got when saw that you updated! Although now I know not to browse your LJ during lunch should that ever happen again since that nearly led to a little choking fiasco... Eh, but in my horrible defense, that chicken was pretty dry to begin with.

This fic actually reminded me a comic one-shot called Ruins. Basically, it's this really twisted AU that ties in some of the series in the Marvel Universe like X-Men, of course, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk. However, instead of following the events that led to those individuals becoming heroes/villains, disaster befalls all of them in that world. Some of them suffered horrible deformities or died (or are in the process of dying) horrible deaths. The mutants have been detained in prisons although it's not really known to the public. The conditions they live in are absolutely horrible, and what the prison staff is doing to keep them all in line is just disgusting! I mean, I vaguely recall a young Cyclops looking like his eyes had been gouged out ( ... )

Oh no. If I hadn't gotten them I would have bugged you unmercifully. I enjoyed them muchly (although I am still hoping for more smut.) I liked the Selene/Cordelia ones best, but the one where Sage cockblocks Mystique is awesome.

I think I wimped out at the end of this piece. The way I originally envisioned it, I wanted Emily to take the risk to let her out with no promises or ideas about what would happen, and then to the last scene where she's clearly been manipulated into being utterly devoted, and Emma's still sitting back, detached, and using her and her mother as pawns.
But I couldn't do it. :(
Still, I hope there's a certain amount of unsettlingness at the end, since she doesn't remember, and Emma is not quite a victim anymore.

Sorry about the choking!

*snickers* I suppose there would never be enough Selene/Cordelia smut to satisfy you, eh? Ah, but it's cool. I'm actually flattered that you're liking that pairing so much! I like the cockblocking Sage one myself. I kinda figured that I'd be able to do something amusing with that stoicism of hers. Lol ( ... )

I must admit that I do have a soft spot in my heart for character X dies, and character Y destroys the world in an expression of her pain. Or, um, the reason that I haven't been working on any of the Fake Empire storylines: character X dies, character Y suffers for ten years to fulfill her duty before dying heroically and, finally gaining the long sought for end to her existence.
So if your death fic is suitably tragic, I won't protest. But I will not allow it to be an end to smut! (Which I am looking forward to with much eagerness, particularly because its finals time coming up and I need things to lift my spirits.)

I'm glad the ending is still ambiguous. Discomfort! Discomfort is my goal!

Um... I'm not too sure what to think about this. On the one hand, I did read this the first time fairly cautiously, but it didn't trigger anything for me, which is a good thing. And it is well written, and, once past the first bit, an enjoyable read. On the other hand, it does follow in the not-exactly-glorious tradition of 'woman gets raped, then falls in love with her attacker'. So, yes, um. Possibly I'm just not the target audience for this tale. :)

Oi, that was a choice I had to make. I was considering the other option which was, um, cycle of abuse. i.e. woman gets raped, and then takes it out on someone who shows compassion, and then telepathically binds that person to her will. So creepy discomfort was sort of the intended response.

I don't know if anyone is the target audience for this sort of story.

If it makes it better I intended the two forest-dreams to be involuntary realizations of Emma's emotional state, and a recreation of her memories rather than intentional assault... It probably doesn't though.

Thank you for letting me know what you thought!

This story inspired me to write a companion piece/sequel from Emma's perspective. I should note that my story is more of a tragedy, so anyone who liked the semi-upbeat ending of Captive should beware. Also brain damage features in the story. It can be found here:

Well...I like it!! I never thought that this would be my type of story, but you wrote it so well that it won me over...

I know it is a very dark story (with all the physical and psychological abuse),and even though it is sad and horrible what happened to Emma & Co., the ending (with Emma & Emily) gave me a warm feeling!
