Newsflash: Ron Paul is a tier one candidate whether you like it or not

Jan 16, 2012 07:00

Isn't it amazing how in four years absolutely nothing changes?

Ron Paul has run for president three times. Before 2008 he ran as a Libertarian in 1988. In 1988 no one knew who he was because the mainstream media didn't care about a Libertarian candidate. they still don't. In 2008 he ran as a Republican but still had a hard time getting any media attention, despite placing first in straw polls. The media ignored him, called his platform crazy, called him crazy and labeled him a racist after some old newsletters were discovered. When the primaries came he just didn't get the votes. Also,

Now here is 2012. Ron Paul is running again. The media at first did the usual ignoring him. He was passed over for questions during debates. His microphone would suddenly malfunction when he answered debate questions. Even when he ranked first or second in pre-primary polls everyone said it was a fluke or Democrats. (Remember back when Democrats voting for Reagan was a good thing? Apparently Dems jumping parties is only a good thing when it's done for the "right" candidate). Unfortunately for the 'establishment', nothing worked, and Ron Paul surged ahead, placing third in Iowa and second in New Hampshire. He's currently polling strong in South Carolina, and placed first in a pre-primary poll in Texas.

This has made the neocons froth at the mouth, because if this keeps up, then Ron Paul might have the momentum to seek a third party candidacy, if he does that, he will split the vote and ... we all know what happens then.

And oh look, Senator Tom Davis of South Carolina announced today he's endorsing Ron Paul.

Can we stop pretending now Ron Paul is irrelevant? That's hardly true anymore, no matter how hard some want to think it is. What he's saying seems to be clicking with enough people he's doing very well. Ignoring him, ridiculing him, making fun of him because of some old newsletters don't seem to work this time around.

Can he get the nomination? Who knows, It's looking more like everyone's willing to hold their nose and vote for Romney, despite many Republicans having big issues with him, evangelicals hating the fact he's a filthy Mormon (perfectly justified IMO), and the rest of us grumbling at the Bain Capital video and wanting to lynch him. I liked Kay Bee Toys, damn it! Prick.

Romney is just what the establishment wants, they will continue to destroy this country like they are doing now. Romney in that sense is one of them - the venture capitalists, the out of control investment bankers who continue to rape this country financially, while telling us we should give a shit about gay people getting married, or what a woman does with her uterus is our business, or people who get a few hundred dollars in food stamps every month are scum, while they rake in billions in tax cuts.

Bullshit.

They don't want Ron Paul, because their welfare check will get cut, and no one thinks they are more entitled for government handouts like a billionaire.

So keep believing the hype that he is crazy, a racist, not a serious candidate. Plenty of people think and say he is, and whether you would vote for him or not, you should see him as a serious candidate too.
