New pill that cures cancer? I can't help but wonder why this isn't all over the media right now. Sure it still needs to be tested on humans (it may only work on rats, or it may work period. Future tests will tell).
University running the reasearch website Effectively put, in cancer, the mitochondria shut down in the cell, and it goes the glycocen for it's energy. It was believed that the mass mutation of the cell forced the mitochondria to shut down in cancer. However they've discovered the opposite is true. The mitochondria fails, and the cell mutates, and then continues to grow. Effectively the medication (used for a while to treat other diseases), forces the mitochondria to work again, the cell registers as abnormal, and the body destroys it.
I can't help but go, why the hell are people not talking about this?
