I really wish that I could say that this war was better than others, as I had hoped, but sad to say.. this was a tough one.
Yes, there was hell of a lot of drama in camp and I did not do well with that. I had a major meltdown and Thanks to Thyras Hugs and Vallawulf shoulder (pardon the spelling) I regained my brain with calmness and took a deep breathe, cried some more, and then moved on.
So I'm gonna do some bitching and then I'll move on to the good stuff.
This whole experience was not all bad.
It was upsetting and yet sad to see that there were people who just didn't seem to care. Get what they can for what ever reason.
There were people that openly complained about having to do things... where there were others who out did themselves above and beyond. Never have I felt so taken advantage of by others and it will not happen EVER again. Drama free is so much better. Next time, I will deal with issues better and put my foot down. At this time.... Future events will be US camping...meaning.. NO we will be not be buying, storing, nor preparing food for anyone else but us. Do not assume that we are or will be taking care of it all. Do not assume that becuase you are not feeling good that we will tend to your every whim and or tell you it's ok for you to not do what you said you were going to do for the 10th time. Pack your ass up and go home if you are that miserable and feel you can't do what you said you were going to do.
Duct tape would have been great for some specific children.. had there been a tree I'd have used one or more to make my point.
Keep screaming, mis behaved children away. Keep their parents away as well.
I absolutely love Thyra and Frodi's boys. They are both very considerate and helpful in many ways. Respectable kids these days and in the SCA are to be commended. I'll hang with those two boys any day.
I need a vacation from the vacation.. but life goes on.
So, the good things that happened at war.....
It was just Awesome to be with King Padruig and a Prince Hrodir! They were awesome and the most amazing men ever.
It is most obvious to me why their populaces love them dearly. Those two men have the biggest, kindest hearts ever. Holding a Kings hand while laying on the grassy ground, and watching the stars was a most amazing time. What would seem like long awkward huggy moments really werent'. Knowing that they appreciated us so much that they're hands have been extended to us across the Kingdoms... that's awesome. His Majesty Padruig and HIs HIghness Hrodir were ,as hubby says, a blast and both are more than welcome to join us anytime they visit no matter what.
There were good times around the fires, and good times spent with friends. I wish that I could have done more for the children's area, but was pulled in different directions ... that is not an excuse.. but I could not deny tending to visiting Royals vs the childrens activites. There were many helping with the youth center... and I knew they would be taken care of. Royalty first... simply put.
Home brews are yummy. Wander makes the tastiest boozed up cherries ! Glad I asked what was in drinks.. otherwise I would have been one very sick lady. It would be nice if .. you have a good allergy and you ask "does this have any **** in it?" A simple yes or no answer would be nice instead of saying, " I can not divulge that" BULL.. would you like to partake of something you are allergice to ?oh well... just glad I didn't drink too much.. I had a great time and got to enjoy alot of good times.
Oh hey... I was allowed to sing "MY SONG" for His Majesty. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!
