This is MJ - Oyster Recipes

Mar 12, 2016 15:56

This is a continuation of the post I did on SF. I wasn't able to include this because entry was too long to post.

The sureball way to make me say yes to translating or reviewing a segment is one thing: FOOD. It's the one thing that makes me watch an episode more. When Ii Mise, Kudoi Mise was still a segment in Shiyagare, I enjoyed it very much. I regress, last week, I said I was choosing between reviewing this segment or doing the NewsZERO translation of Typhoon Haiyan. I opted to do NewsZERO last week. But I still want to give a little more attention to MatsuJun (especially since his drama is coming up -99.9%) so I decided to do a review on this segment!

I mean Food + ARASHI + the sea? I'm in! :)

Location: Osakikami Island in Hiroshima
Episode Date: 2016.02.27
This is MJ Guest:  NONE
Episode Objective: To get a green Claire Oyster.
[Want to know what a Claire Oyster is? Click here! :)]

Famous oyster from the largest oyster-producing region in the world. The oysters are finished in knee-deep claire (rectangular salt ponds) for a minimum of one month, during which they fatten and take on a sweeter, fruitier flavor from the water and phytoplankton in the ponds.

SEGMENT: MJ RESTAURANT!

In this segment Matsumoto-san makes different variations of dishes with oyster as the main ingredient.

#1 ITALIAN STYLE- GRILLED OYSTERS

Cooking Process:
  1. The oysters were placed in the oyster grill pan and left to "grill".
  2. When the oysters were starting to render liquid, cheese was grated over each of oysters.
  3. For aroma, a touch of champagne was added to each oyster. Let it sizzle.
  4. Lastly, add a slice (or two) of parma ham to each oyster half-shell and serve.
#2 SPANISH STYLE OYSTER AJILLO

  1. In a fry pan add olive oil, slices of garlic and a chili.
  2. When the oil becomes fragrant, add quartered mushrooms and oysters (without the shell).
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve with a crusty bread to place the oyster on and enjoy. You might end up saying "Gracias!" just like Matsumoto Jun!

#3. Oishinbo Vol. 20's Chinese-Style Steamed Oysters.

  1. On half-shell oysters, season with soy sauce.
  2. Sprinkle with strips of the white part of the long green onion (leek).
  3. Place a leaf of cilantro (coriander) on each shell. If you hate cilantro like Matsumoto-san, you can use parsley! He used mitsuba parsley.
  4. Steam for 7 minutes.
  5. Afterwards, pour hot peanut oil over each freshly steamed oyster.

I think he liked the third recipe the best! What do you think?
Do you like Oysters? What do you have it with? :)

CREDITS: Screen captures were taken from DSS (up til the part where Matsumoto says "I probably am") and KnH.
