So on Saturday, March 19th, my friend Rebecca called me up to say that one of our favorite Korean idol groups U-Kiss was having a fan sign event and asked if I wanted to come. I said yes, but ended up running quite late because i decided to get my hair done that morning. Luckily, I still managed to make it in time.
Here's a picture of U-Kiss for those of you who don't know.
Members are (from left) Kiseop, Dongho, Kevin, Soo-hyun, Kibum, Eli, Xander
So my friends and I waited and U-Kiss showed up and the line began moving. We were excited of course but not nearly as excited as some little girls who were literally bouncing up and down with excitement. And according to my friend Rebecca, Kevin was just as excited to see them. It was adorable! So the line moved along and finally it was my friend Rebecca's turn. I was watching and was so excited for her when he said he remembered her. As she moved onto Kiseop, I went up to Kevin and he said he remembered me too. I was blown away because I honestly did not expect to be remembered. So here is how my conversations with the members went.
~Kevin~
Kevin: (as Rebecca leaves) Hi! I remember you too!
Me: Really? (Honestly, as it's the next day I don't remember if I just thought this or said it aloud.)
Kevin: What's your name?
Me: Alyssa.
Kevin: (writes Al) . . .
Me: y-s-s-a.
Kevin:(finishes writing my name.) Did you like the show?
Me: Yes, and the first time my Grandma came too.
Kevin: I remember her too.
Me: o.o . . . Yeah, she really liked it too and it said it was a great birthday present, unexpectedly.
Kevin: Yeah, I know. (This leads me to think that he did read my card that I put in at the final show, or if I tweeted about it, he may have read my tweet. I was still surprised either way.)
~Kiseop~
(I honestly don't remember who started, so but here's what I do remember.)
Me: Hi Kiseop! (This seems right.)
Kiseop: . . . Hi. (looks at my name.) A~l~i
Me:(saying it as it sounds in Korean/Japanese) Al-lee-sa
Kiseop: (nods and signs the poster; looks up, smiles.)
Me: Gamsahamnida! (thank you in Korean.)
~Soo-hyun~
Me: Anyeonghaseyo Soo-hyun-si.
Soo-hyun: o.o Hi. (signs poster. looks up.)
Me: manasapanggapsumnida (It's nice to meet you.)
Soo-hyun: 0o0 wooooaaaaaa! (gives me a big thumbs up.)
Me: hangul ul joguem (I can do a little Korean) gamsahamnida.
~Dongho~
Me:Hey, how are you?
Dongho: Ohh, good. Where are you from?
Me: America.
Dongho: America (nods)
Me:migook esa wasayo. (I'm from America.)
Dongho: migook (America) audie? (where?)
Me: (holds up hand like a mitten) Do you know Chicago?
Dongho: (nods)
Me: (points) Chicago. (points to crook between thumb and forefinger) Me.
Dongho: aaaaww.
Me: Thank you. Gamsahamnida
~Eli~
Eli: Welcome!
Me: Hey.
Eli: Are you from Canada?
Me: No, America.
Eli: Ooh.
Me: Do you know anything about American football? (In my head: you frickn' grew up in America, please say you have some idea.)
Eli: Football? I'm a Steelers fan.
Me: Really? (points to self) Green Bay Packers
Eli: Ahh, really?
Me: Yeah, that's my hometown.
Eli: (nods.) Thanks. (Hands me the poster.)
Me: Thank you.
Of course afterwards consisted of fangirling and questioning whether or not our coversations really happened. Luckily, I recorded it, and although you can't make out most of what happens from Kevin to Dongho, my conversation with Eli is pretty freakn' clear as day. And as I'm writing this, I'm still in a daze. I also think it's terrible (or great) that I want to meet these boys again really soon. They were all really awesome and friendly. I can't wait for their comeback!
