Wow, the last time I posted was in December. Am I a loser or what. Now I only have about 31/2 months left. Not that I'm counting down. It's just that I won't be renewing my contract. That means that unless 1 of 2 options goes through were I can stay in Korea, I'll be going home to the USA. If all else fails, I'll go back to school. I know a lot of people are saying, you should renew, you need something to fall back on. Well, I'm sorry, but I say FUCK THAT SHIT! (Yes, all swearing intended, and no apologies.) For the first time in my life, I'm not planning ahead of time, I'm not having anything lined up. I'm taking that blind leap of faith, relying on God to guide me, and working my ass off to make sure I land on my feet on a great piece of ground.
Anyway, just the fact that I have so little time left had me looking back at all the things I've done this year. Usually, I say my life is boring, I don't do anything. HA! WHAT A LIE! Not many people will care (as they don't like my type of music) but here's what I've done. Mind you we are back tracking a bit to about September (mostly so I can keep things straight for myself).
September: Junsu's Musical concert and Onew's Rock of Ages (see the other post on this one)
October: In the hospital with pneumonia (this was not fun. again, see the other post)
November: I freakin' got to go to the JYJ concert! With the exception that it was out side, fucking freezing, and "we would have had better seats from an airplane cause the airplane would have been heated" (thank you umbrellaofdoom) it was amazing to get to go.
December: Christmas. Holidays in a foreign country usually suck. When I was in Japan I did travel to Okinawa with my friend Miki, so that helped, but the holiday times in general suck. Simply because it's not the same as at home. However, this time I kept myself busy with my friends and had a jam-packed musical weekend. Christmas Eve entailed going to the JYP Nation concert and yelling at 2PM to take of their shirts, Christmas day was watching my favorite Korean star, DBSK's U-know Yunho, play the lead role in the musical adaptation of "Goong" (aka: the Palace), and the day after (Boxing day) consisted of yelling at the other half of One Day, 2AM, to take off their shirts. Overall pretty fucking amazing. Christmas also consisted of my friend Rebecca making an amazingly delicious chicken dinner.
January: Inkigayo. OMFG! I had wanted to go to Inkigayo (a Korean music program)ever since my friends Rebecca and Eda went. So Rebecca and I finally went. Although we went for JoKwon, I feel that I lucked out and DBSK was promoting for their first time after 2years and 3months, as was GD and TOP. I think I pretty died this weekend. Although I have been accused of using JoKwon to see other groups (0k, partially true) I would have gone simply to see JoKwon and to see a live broadcast. And even if it was just to watch JoKwon, I would not have been disappointed. That boy is fucking amazing. I don't think I've ever really been impressed with someone like I was impressed while watching JoKwon. He was so professional that it made me jealous. Apparently I really need to step up my game.
During this time I also had my vacation from school and my grandmother came to Korea to visit. We also traveled to Vietnam and had a wonderful time. While she was here we attended U-KISS Kevin's musical "Musical On Air Live" with Rebecca and Claire for the first time. All I can say is, sometimes it's good to be white.
February: Holy shit ton of concerts and musicals. Okay so the musical was Kevin's "Musical On Air" again, but it was amazing so of course my friends and I saw it a total of 3 times (4 for them).
My friends, Rebecca, Eda, Claire, and Amanda, and I also went to the 2AM concert. This was a 2nd time for some of us, and a first for others. Either way, we had a row of white girls and had some of the best reactions from a Korean male idol group ever. Jinwoon (the youngest member) gave us the biggest double take I've ever seen. Then him and another member, Seulong, came to our side of the thrust stage and literally looked up and down our aisle with a look on their faces that pretty much said, "Holy shit! White girls!" It was fantastic.
Then it was B2ST (pronounced as beast for those not familiar with k-pop). It was fun, but as Hime, Rebecca, and I really only knew a few songs, I don't think we got into it as much as we normally would have. It was basically, "We don't have Kevin's musical anymore, what should we do?" So we went, stood in standing, and still had fun.
Then came the best concert I've been to in Korea (despite my bias towards DBSK/JYJ). This concert was Big Bang. It was AMAZING! No, not amazing. IT FUCKING BLEW ME AWAY!!!!!!!!! I don't think I've ever had this much fun at a concert anywhere, and this includes seeing my favorite artists in the USA, Japan, and Korea.
March: This month was 2AM again. And that about brings it up to date.
Lately, I've also been practicing every Friday, and now Sunday night for my dance studio's yearly spring performance. It's late at night, but it's a ton of fun. I'm really glad I'll have a chance to perform while I'm here. Well, I don't know much else. That's all for now. I'll try to be better, but as usual, don't expect much.
