The wasp inserts its stinger into the roach, finds and disables the neurons resposible for the roach's escape sequence and then leads the docile roach back to it's lair and implants an egg into it.

Wired has an article on TMS used to treat depression. TMS interests me more for it's potential transhumanist applications, but having practical and widespread applications will serve to further research on TMS and the brain.

Helacyton gartleri is the species which evolved from the cervical cancer of Henrietta Lacks.

The cancer cells don't die like normal human cell cultures and are apparently a key tool for cancer and other research. Apparently there is also an issue with the cells contaminating other cell lines.
