I heard this on NPR last week but /. finally posted a link to an article about a technique to easily fold dna into 2d images. There could be a number of implications because of this in the nanotech field.

Ultracapacitors may eventually replace batteries. Too bad it relies on currently expensive to make carbon nanotubes. On the other hand if it's still in the range of close to cost-effective, it might serve as motivation to throw money at more efficient mechanisms for making nanotubes ( Read more... )
