S.T. Joshi once made the remark that Robert E. Howard studies/fandom is about twenty years behind Lovecraft studies/fandom in that the Howardians are still going nuts whenever anyone does a little biocrit or mentions Howard's racism or even points out that some of Howard's stuff wasn't so great
