Slackin'

I declare today to be an Official Slacking Day. :) It's Friday, for one thing. And I have not much to do, other than some accounting clean-ups that won't take me long to do and a couple of calls to make here and there. I do have some stuff that I need to go over with the company owner's wife...but she's been out in Telluride since yesterday afternoon and won't be back until sometime on Monday. So....much Internet usage ensues. :) And, in fact, I'm contemplating leaving a bit early today because, while I don't have a lot to do here at work, I do have a lot to do this evening, since we're participating in our subdivision's community garage sale that starts at an insanely early hour tomorrow morning...

So...I shall babble in the journal. I shall babble about the change of seasons, even. Yes, all the signs of fall are arriving here is SW Colorado. The hummingbirds are swarming in preparation for migrating wherever it is they migrate to in the fall. I hear and see gaggles of Canada geese flying in their V-formations, heading to their wintering grounds. Some of the more sheltered aspen groves are beginning to show just a little tinge of gold. And, finally, it's getting down in the 40s at night again. There's that bit of crisp bite in the air in the mornings.

All of this is OK with me. Fall is probably my favorite season, after all. I'm not much for heat. I like it that I live in a place now where fall actually starts -- temperature-wise -- at the end of August instead of the end of October. The summer dragged on way too long back east. Now here's hoping that we'll get as much snow this winter as we got rain this summer. Maybe then we can actually break this long drought of ours...
