Friday rambling
Fridays...
Friday afternoons at work are boring. And it's not really because I'm so busy looking forward to the weekend or anything. It's because I have all these projects that need starting, but I really don't want to start them on a Friday afternoon. Because if I do, then I'll forget what it was that I was doing by the time that Monday rolls around, and then I'll have to spend half of that day figuring out what the heck I was smoking today. So, I don't want to start a project. But on the other hand, all of this week's projects are done. So I'm left with nothing to do, although it's not like I really have nothing to do. So...I'll write in my journal instead! Yeah, that's it... :) And I'll write totally random things, even. Yay.
Random thing #1: I've pretty much decided to go ahead and put together the forum that I was writing about/pondering one entry down. I even came up with (what I think is) a cool name for it, although since it's the title of a song and I'd like to use snippets of the lyrics in the graphics, I need to get permission to use it from the songwriter. I don't know how long that will take, so in the meantime I'm just going to make graphics and put the board together in the assumption that I will be granted permission, and hopefully I'll hear soon whether or not I have permission to do what I want to do.
For those of you who were interested in said board, I'll keep you posted as to a "grand opening" date.
Random thing #2: Y'know...I'd like to lock myself away for this entire weekend and just finish "Redemption," for pity's sake. Why? Because I've got all these other ideas that I'd like to write but I can't because that behemoth is hanging over my head like the Sword of Damocles. :) ravenclaw_devi, I blame you. Really!
...Well, OK, not really. :) My brain just seems to go through fits of being manically active with writing ideas...and then silence for weeks. Very frustrating. Brain activity seems to be on the upswing at the moment, but unfortunately, Ye Olde Grey Matter is at the moment particularly fond of thinking about exactly the wrong things. *points at certain Jeep and a certain fan character who won't leave my head* They are, however, fun things. Which is probably why they won't go away, but...ARGH! Need to finish "Redemption" first! *sigh*
Random thing #3: I live in a tourist town, OK? I accept this. I even like it. But why oh why must gangs of tourists stroll lazily eight abreast down Main Street, such that they take up the ENTIRE WIDE SIDEWALK? You know, some of us do work in this town, and we only have so much time to get our work errands run and to eat our lunch and get back to the office. :p
On a similar note, why must these tourists insist on stuffing their RVs into parking spots meant for normal, average-size cars/SUVs?
Random thing #4: Anyone from Texas here? I don't think so... But if so...can you tell me if they have such a thing a 4-way stops in Texas? If so, is it customary in Texas to totally disregard them and the rules governing them? Because whenever I see someone blowing a 4-way stop or going through them out of turn around here, inevitably the vehicle has Texas plates on it. So, it does make one wonder if the concept just doesn't exist in Texas. Or alternatively, if tourists from Texas are just jerks in general...
Random thing #5: I think we are the only place in the northern hemisphere where the weather is nice. Been in the high 70s/low 80s while the rest of the hemisphere seems to be sweltering. 'Course, it looks like it's going to rain. Again. And, of course, none of this -- the heat everywhere, the constant rain here -- would be happening if I hadn't washed my car about six weeks ago. Weather's gone to pot since then. So yes, it's all my fault.
Random thing #6: Why is there a dearth of decent-looking Decepticon symbol auto decals on eBay? When I didn't need one, there were tons of them. Frosty got a really nice Autobot symbol decal for her van not long ago. But now that the Subaru is officially mine and I want a decal for it...I can't find a decent-looking one. Well, actually, I can find one that I like and that is of a good size. But it comes in the following colors: white, mist gray, black, flex blue, baby blue, cardinal red, orange, pink, stone yellow, silver, and copper.
Ummm....baby blue? PINK? WHY does it not come in PURPLE??? You know, the color it's SUPPOSED TO BE? I mean, the silver might look nice on my black car, but I want a purple one, dangit. The purple ones currently available either look dorky or are too small.
*sigh* I guess I just keep an eye out. If anyone knows of a place to get a symbol decal that's between 8" and 13" square, lemme know, 'K?
