So, I'm laying in bed this morning, awake but not quite wanting to get up yet, just thinking about various things, when
frostymook comes in bearing my laptop and Skywarp and Thundercracker. (The toys, not the robots. I doubt that said robots would fit into this house much less into this teensy li'l bedroom. :) ) Think she's trying to tell me something? :)
Anyway, I've decided to postpone my ramblings about Christian stuff. There are things that I have something to say about, yes, but after a discussion with The Mook, I realize that I should probably be careful about how I say it. I have bones to pick with some folks' version of Christianity and the sometimes wacky way that they practice it, but I must be mindful of the fact that I am not perfect, either. I'm no better than these wackos, really; my sins are just different than theirs. Besides, the whole point of my ramblings/rantings was going to be about how divisiveness is bad, how misguided zealotry is bad, and about how all of that stuff gives non-Christians mixed messages about what Christianity is really about, something that I believe many people calling themselves Christians have lost sight of. But I realize now that my ramblings need to be said in a way that doesn't cause more divisiveness or that doesn't paint Christianity in as much of a bad light as some of the wackos cause it to be painted in. So...more thought is required.
So instead of ranting about Christianity, I spent most of yesterday on *thunder clap* The Great Beethoven Arranging Project: Reducing and Arranging the Second Movement of the Seventh Sympony for String Quartet. So the day was pretty much spent transposing into the key of A Major woodwind parts written in C and Bb and such. And then taking that, mashing it all down into one part shared mostly by the 2nd violin and the viola and then writing the viola bits in its bizarre alto clef instead of trouble treble clef. Talk about a brain workout! Plus, I worked on articulations, dynamics, and other such minor minutiae. :) It's about...halfway done.
I've no idea what I'm going to do with it after it's done, mind you. The beginning violinists in our little quartet couldn't possibly play it, and I don't know that anyone else would want to. So, I don't even know why I did it, other than I love this little broody tune and its fun fugue at the end. So I'll probably just toss it up on Finale's showcase site and then...probably move on to the third movement of the 5th Symphony. 'Cuz I am, y'know, a masochist and all. ;)
Today...Well, I guess I'm writing Seekerboys today. :) After practice, that is... Maybe it'll get 'em out of my head. :)
EDIT: Baaaaa... I don't know what the heck this is all about, but here it is..
