Soldier of the Year
Well a couple weeks ago I was at work and had to stop by my house for something. My dad tells me that my 1st Sergeant called and I need to call him back. Now I'm getting all parinoid thinking I'm getting deployed. I call him back and I find out that I'm representing the brigade for Soldier of the Year. MISE!!!!!!
Last Thursday night, the first Strategic Knights movie night, I had the review board. I get there a little early and do some last minute studying. Since I was the first one there I was told to go stand by the door to let people in. The first person that walks in is a Private Levellie. All I'm thinking is, "What the Fuck". The brigade commander's last name is Levellie. See where I can be pissed off.
Anyhow I'm the first one in front of the board. I'm wasn't really nervous. I was more like I just want to get it over and done with. I'm not suppose to talk about what happened as far as how many I got right, what type of, and how many questions there were total. Lets just say I did good.
Yesterday afternoon I get a phone cell. It was my 1st Sergeant telling me that I won. He told me that I have to go in front of the state board and do it again. There is a whole new packet to study and he said is going to sit down with me and help me at the next drill weekend. He also told me that one of my friends in the brigade won his board. The 1st Sergeant told me that he could have been there naked and still won.
So I shall keep you all up to date on how I'm doing with all this Soldier of the Year stuff.
