Jammin'
So, a while back on the weekend Thor had the sneezes, I made friends with a neighbor on Small Tracts. :D
She put out the invitation to come over during September (her husband works a month on/month off up north, so she gets bored around the house since she'll be solo during that time) and get canning lessons! I've only done a little bit of jam here and there before ages back, so this is neat. Plus we have a lot of stuff in common, she has two awesome dogs, and it's neat to get to know a neighbor.
Well, we be jammin'! I went over on Tuesday night and we made a great batch of raspberry! It was such a blast- she has a really gorgeous log cabin with some great history. It's on land where the first settlement, not the actual TOWN, but the original settlement of Fairbanks was located. It's very likely to be the spot of the hotel or mercantile.
She has a ton of knowledge about the history of the area, as she's really into it and is a former antiques dealer too. Thursday we just ended up relaxing and chatting, as she wasn't feeling that super. But that was fabulous too. This weekend I'm going to chop some cabbages for sauerkraut, and we have plans to do cranberry concentrate as well as blueberry jam. Who knows what else will pop up too.
Chris is helping his dad get the boat, so he's gone all weekend. Plus he has the next week off, originally for hunting with Joe, but Joe isn't quite up to it with his ankle just yet since he still has stitches in. Chris is still taking the time off, he might go out a little with his brother and I think he might clean his house a little. He deserves some time to relax at any rate.
It's been really busy at work. We are seriously swamped. I'm feeling pretty sore from it all this week too. I thought I wanted to post about it, but really, I don't even want to type it all out at this point. Just think stressful, and hard work right now. The boss is still really cool and not getting mad at anyone for being so swamped. We only have so much time in a day. I'd be half tempted to run 5 10s if given the choice. I hate feeling swamped, and honestly the extra cash would be super cool.
The Kids are doing wonderfully. If I let Thor out before Freya, he runs over to her cage and they touch noses through the bars. Then he looks at me like he's asking me why she isn't out yet. I had two bunnies sprawling out in front of the blower earlier too! I love giving them treats and loves. Two sets of soft bunny ears is like heaven! The two of them really are happy together too. TONS of mutual grooming, they share greens, they play, they cuddle. It's wonderful, particularly since it isn't one sided. Freya really looks up to Thor, and Thor seems to like having a little sidekick. He's way more energetic, and they seem to really enjoy running around together.
I did find out that Freya is a mountain climber. Last night Thor came to sit with me on the couch while I had some chips and salsa. Freya popped up too. She wasn't interested in chips like Thor, but every minute or so she started climbing up the back of the couch. I had to keep putting her back down on the seat. She's one to watch... Crazy animal! On the positive side of things, she hasn't peed anywhere other than her litter pan or cage all week. Yay!
I also got my phone today! Tomorrow I will have to go to the AT&T store to make sure all of the internet and texting crap is still blocked. Plus I need to get it started with the new SIM card, and I wanted to see if they could transfer the data so I don't have to key it all in. I don't have a second phone and it's easier to do the call thing from the store. I think they will let me if I go to the nice AT&T store (and not the one I walked out of after the lady kept trying to up-sell me things I didn't even care about after I told her I would walk out if she did it one more time). We'll see.
So far I like the new phone, the charging cord is USB ended and the phone takes one of those micro USB things or something like that. So I believe I have a thingie all ready that will work as a car charger head since I have a house charger one. Yay! I want to get a micro SD so I can store pictures and upload them more easily. I'm excited to have something that won't tweak out randomly on me and might be more clear. My old one is 4 years old, so it has served its time. I'll save it as a spare just in case though.
Now it's late, time to get laundry folded so I can sleep. I have a big day of fun! YAY!
