I don't know if I'm a "deep thinker" or not. Some people consider "deep thinking" different things. I'm gonna refer to just stuff about literature now.
Some people think you have to read all this literature and the so-called classics in order to be a "smart person" or deep. I've never really liked reading literature. THe stuff I prefer to read is stuff about news, history, current events, not literature stuff written by peopel that have been ded for hundreds if not thousands of years. It's not an interest of mine and I'd rather waste my time doing something else.
My friend's father once said somehting like "you haven't lived or you're not really smart unless you've read all the classics (in literature), which made me feel like an intellectual midget. I don't know why people equate intelligence on reading books form people who have been dead for hundreds or thousands of years.
Honestly for me, I'll take the label of "dummy" any day if I have a nice house, car, and can afford to feed myself and my fmaily. I'll take a ittle fame too. I mean, some people have read all the classics or most of them and are fucking broke! Perhaps, a a starving artist.
I don't think intelligence or whatever should be judged based on if people have read certain books or not. Some peopel are street smart and people smart. Those people become successful.
Well, my friend David and I got into this conversation about "deep thinking". He thinks my sister is a "deep thinker" b/c she reads all that literature stuff. I really think of her as more ambitious, but ok. Some of that stuff in that deep thinking literture stuff like, "we don't know if we're really here, is we really exist, we could all be figments of our imagination". sounds like you have to be high to think it...
