Day 5 - Letter to the editor

Oct 22, 2007 22:52

I've spent the day researching the new Industrial relations laws. I've found out our employer can fine us of $6000 each.

Apparently the State Government is taking our union to court, to try and fine us $6000 each.

Quite frankly, I don't know how they could find $6000 in my assets. The benefits of being poor.

I've been watching the news and reading the papers, and constantly going on-line for new updates on the situation.

I'm getting annoyed at the media saying it's a 'pay dispute'. It's much more than that. We are fighting for our ratios to keep a managable workload, penalty rates, to keep our 8 hour shift instead of split shifts, and to stop the State government introducing unqualified staff into our public hospitals.

So tonight I wrote a letter to The Age, stating my point in less than 200 words!
