I like the take you've taken on this one, with Lee struggling with sending her out into danger again and again. I don't think I've seen that brought up before.

But if I let us, if I let this mean anything more than that... Gods, Lee, I can't lose you, too."

"I'm right here, Kara." Lee feels her name on his tongue like a whisper, like a prayer. "I'm not going anywhere."

The looks she gives him then nearly breaks his heart.

"Aren't you, Lee?

I love how even when Kara's being vulnerable, actually talking and opening up, she's still running away from Lee. Not that I love that she's running away, but you know what I mean.

"Every time you go out, I keep picturing your Viper exploding, or I'm waiting, dreading hearing that you haven't made it back.

This feels a little like foreshadowing, Lee watching her viper explode over and over again. Good, in a painful sort of way. These two don't really do happily every after do they? Or should that be bright shiny futures?

I very much like this; even though the conversation changed, it still works within the larger canon of their relationship. Our poor doomed pilots.

This line is like...guh. I can hear Katee delivering that line in my head and it rips my heart out. Oh pilots!

Great job! I can see this fitting in seamlessly with that moment and it still has the same outcome as canon. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, this was really interesting because even though both were able to speak their minds more, they still end up in the same place essentially. So it fits nicely in canon- well done!
