Well. i wont even bother with beating around the bush. My apartment caught fire yesterday. Lost everything but the work clothes i happened to wear that day. Noone got hurt, the only injury was Gewne who had a small 2nd degree burn, but otherwise ok. Moni got a call during lunch from gene saying our bedroom caught on fire and we rushed home. I was thinking we only lost the bed and maybe a few books, but when we got to the parking lot our patio was totally torched and they wouldnt let us in at first. after a while of talking to the fire inspector, he took gene in to grab some of his smaller things while i called my dad to let him know that there was a bad fire. at this point i was still thinking things would be somewhat ok. i thought that me and moni could at least have the air mattress in the living room. when it was mine and monis turn to go up, we reached the doorway and all hope was lost. it looked like a gloomy horror movie. the walls were all back, the clothes that were left in the living room were in burnt pieces, NOTHING survived the bedroom, almost everything in the living room is either fire, smoke, or water damaged. so basically we were left with nothing. moni lost her beloved laptop, i lost my POS laptop, and my computer was partially melted. tv was gone, ps2 partially carmalized. no trace of my gamecube (was in the bedroom). so far the combined rough estimated losses in the apartment is about $20k at least. gene lost the most which was about $10k or so. and all these are underguessing and not everything. gene had a crap load of computer parts that he was going to use to build computers and sell them. Moni lost some family jewels from her great grandma i think it was. we couldnt even price that out, when we listed things she could only write priceless.
the cause of all this you ask?? we have been fighting to get the tiles in our bathroom replaced because they were falling out. the damage was so bad they brought in a contractor. after 2 days of tearing apart our bathroom and also leaving a high powered heater on all day, the 3rd day our apt went poof. the contractor (for some reason) had the heater on the ground pointing in the same direction as the heat gun that started the fire. for those who dont know, think of the heat gun as either 10 hairdryers with a tiny tip, or a heat only flamethrower. it burnt a hole straight through the wall and caught our mattress on fire. the fire inspector said that it was a flash fire. basically, REALLY hot REALLY fast moving. he guessed our bedroom was about 1500 degrees inside.
This is obviously a long shot.
This was our patio.
In the upper left is the remains of our TV. the whole back is melted. On the ground was our collection of DVDs, Games, and also books.
The hole is a little bigger than the fire made it because the fire inspector had to find the cause of it. But basically on the other side of this wall is the bathroom.
Well thats all for now i guess. Not sure when i might be able to post again. Im staying at a hotel. Red cross was able to get us set up for a couple of days here.
All three of us are going in between total veg state, to anger and rage at wanting to kill that contractor for taking away everything we owned -_-
